I think there is room for some to be in error rather than evil and demented. I am sure that many young mothers-to-be were lead astray and made a choice that they regret later when they think about it with a more clear head. In fact:
"Studies within the first few weeks after the abortion have found that between 40 and 60 percent of women questioned report negative reactions. Within 8 weeks after their abortions, 55% expressed guilt, 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor."

But for those who know that an unborn child is a living human individual that we would recognize to be an innocent baby and yet they still completely reject their obligation to protect innocent human life against the relatively trivial right of privacy of a mother who is experiencing an unfortunate consequence almost always as a result of her own choices - then it is hard not to see them as evil.
In fact I would go so far as to say that a certain senator who voted to permit living born babies to be placed in a linen closet to die of dehydration as an extension of abortion rights would be a monster.
(One thing I discovered when I found that link above is that while one of the arguments in favor of abortion is that back room abortions are dangerous, the statistics show that clinic abortions are pretty dangerous too and the number of women experiencing complications now is much higher than the number of women who experienced complications back when most states made it illegal to kill babies.)
