Abortion

In the words of the immortal AC/DC....

I'm ever upper class high society
God's gift to ballroom notoriety
I always fill my ballroom
The event is never small
The social pages say I've got
The biggest balls of all

Ohhhh...those were metaphorical balls....

Shoot...does this mean we can't be friends?:(

No, it doesn't mean that we can't be friends but I do feel decieved. Back in the early days of this board, I was engaged in a conversation with lilly marlene and you and someone else joined in and it seemed as if I were being ganged up on by women and I asked if I were the only man on the board. I distinctly remember you answering that you were male.

I watch writing and speech patterns and generally pick up on differences, or similarities. I often picked up on what's his name (roker) under various names because of quirky spelling and grammatical patterns.

I guess I will have to take back my invitation to go fishing though. I doubt that my wife would understand that the guy I invited out for a day on the water turned out to not be a guy at all. She is funny that way.

You tube is GREAT! You get to show real people saying real things. In their own words.

Real people like you saying real things like you? Every argument you have put up in support of your position has been effectively torn to pieces. In looking at your links, I see where you get your losing arguments. Maybe if you tried actually learning something on your own rather than stealing information from obvious idiots, your debate skills would improve.

Folks the President of Iran & the KKK claim that the Holocaust never existed either. But It did. Pounding the desk like Ahmadinejad and denying something so serious that really happened, never happened, is wrong... it's unAmerican.

In this country women did die due to unsafe illegal abortions and to say coat hangers and other household items were never used is just not true... it's not true at all. They unfortunately were used. Illegal meant often conditions were not even sterile. These were people's mothers and daughters family & friends. Women died!

Women have to be able to choose there own path on this because men will never have to walk it. Giving men the power to decide abortion is as ridiculous as giving women the power to decide what men should be castrated.

I have two daughters that I love more than anything in the world. They along with the vast, VAST majority of women and a majority of the American people as a whole support Choice because this is such a personal issue involving ones control over ones own personal bodily functions.

Choice is Choice... Force is Force... and no woman should ever be FORCED to go either way.

You've never attended any college-level political or social science class, have you?

Lame-brain rhetorics work only on intellectual novices.

I agree. But that also means that she (and he) make a choice when they willingly engage in sex and that choice is - unless they are sterilized - the possible risk of pregnancy. I think if you do so knowing you might be creating a new life then you have an ethical obligation towards that life.

I was joking when I made the comment about balls. I'm terrible about joking around - probably do it too much and piss people off- usually people don't take me too seriously. That is funny when you picked up Roker under each ID...:D

"Usually" it's choice, not always... but even so risk & reality are not mutually exclusive. Because of a change in medical status inside a woman's own personal, private body a woman does not just suddenly surrender her control and become a robot to be commanded by the state until the state is done using it.

Ethically or one might even say morally is fair. Ethically or morally depends on an individuals own personal values, maybe even religious beliefs or lack thereof.

Legally I think a correct balance was been reached by our Supreme Court 35 years ago. Things were much worse prior to that decision. Anyone who believes abortion wasn't in common practice before Roe is either being dishonest or just delusional. It was the safety of women that changed for the better after Roe.

Most of the worlds population is allowed choice. The United States is in line with that majority.

The World’s Abortion Laws
Currently, 61% of the world’s people live in countries where induced abortion is permitted either for a wide range of reasons or without restriction as to reason. In contrast, 26% of all people reside in countries where abortion is generally prohibited.

What is there about abortion that it has this power to elicit mind-f__ingly stupid statements from libs? :p

I guess we'll all be waiting to see how those hate/fear mongering neo-con campaigns play out this election cycle. ;)

Outside of maybe McCain saying we should stay in Iraq for 100 years there's little that I want to hear about as much as a group thats stated agenda is to take freedom of choice away from women. :D
You might as well run a TV ad for the other side! :)

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY :) .

I've found those needing to resort to personal attacks aren't typically top of the class themselves. ;) Everyone has their own style I guess.

Then I hold your instructor in political science personally responsible for your ignorance.

Try digesting john locke's 2nd treatise of civil government before you start using the words 'choice' and 'force'.

You have lost the discussion, top gun, when you tube and slogans is all you have left. And stating that abortion is presently legal is no better an argument than stating that slavery was legal in 1863. The present state of things is no indicator of how things will be; especially since legal precedent has been established for the unborn.

It's not really so stupid.

You are giving one group of humans power over another groups personal bodies and lives.

It's the same argument that the opposing side uses: giving women choice gives them power over the bodies of their fetus'.

Women and unborn are in a unique situation that men will never be in.

Which rights are more important: a woman's right to make choices on her own body or an fetus' right to a life? It's a unique situation not found in any other groups of humans.

Palerider and Numinus feel the right to life is paramount. I think not always. When a woman agrees to sex with a man consentually both are agreeing to take the risk of pregnancy. That means there is an implicit agreement to create a new life. Because of that I think the right to life may - in many cases be paramount. If the act is NOT consentual, no such agreement was made and a woman's rights to her own body and choices are paramount. If the right to life is always paramount, then a person should be legally required to donate surplus organs.
