I find the idea that gay people have to prove that they deserve equality is not only disturbing, but also a dangerous precedent to set. Who will be next to have to prove they are worthy of equality? Equality should not be a popularity contest.

Again, gays can marry in every state, just like heteros. They are equal. They want to change the definition of marriage using the language of civil rights as a smoke screen. The burden is on them to convince a majority to support this new concept. And in a democracy, yes--it is majority rule. If you don't believe in the general good will of the majority of your neighbors, then you are a fool to support it.

Not being raised a southern democrat, I'm not familiar with Klan ideology, and I'm not on good enough speaking terms with Sen Byrd to get educated, nor do I have a desire to. Being black is a state of being--immediately observable seconds after birth. You cannot engage in uniquely "black acts" or "black behavior." You can't be bi-blackual, nor can you stop being black. You can't be a closeted black. Being black is being part of a race with a historical distribution based on the human body's ability to balance the need to produce vitamin D while protecting against sunburn.

No one knows what makes a homosexual feel the way they do. It may be a state of being, or it may not. However, homosexual behavior is defined. We regulate behaviors all the time. Sex is a natural human behavior, yet I've lived my life under constant regulation of this behavior. No sex in public--no sex with subordinates--no sex with minors, etc. Comparing the debate over homosexual rights with the historical and ongoing battles against racism is disingenuous.

Post what you want, Siho, I have written extensively about my experiences and I speak publicly at Universities every term to classes of 50-60 students, I also speak to continuing ed classes for therapists, and I always answer all their questions as openly and accurately as possible. Threatening me with my own words is pointless except in the way that you have done so in the past where you took small pieces out of context to try to make them mean what you wanted instead of what I actually said and meant.

I think this is a good example of Siho's approach and how unscientific it is. She comments about my DNA without knowing a single thing about it, she's never met me, she's never seen any of the medical workups done on me, but still she feels that her barnyard experience allows her to PUBLICLY diagnose my condition and contradict not only myself but also the doctors and therapists with whom I have worked for years.

I just have a wider education than you, I've read more history I guess. Funny, but the current head of the NAACP commented that the battle for gay rights was a civil rights issue just like the black people fought.

We can immediately tell which sex organs a baby has right after birth (except in the cases where we cannot--intersexed babies), but we can't tell if they are mentally deficient or left-handed or color blind, and all of those things are genetically governed despite the fact that we used to believe otherwise. Left-handed children used to be punished for using the left, Christianity taught that being left-handed meant you had been touched by the Devil, gradually they came around to the more enlightened belief that it just meant that you were emotionally unstable--most of us know better now though, don't we?

I would have more interest in discussing with you if you showed even the slightest interest in learning more than you now know, but it has been very rare indeed when even one person wil actually look at the resources I have posted over and over again. But I keep posting just in case I run across one of those people who's still thinking.

The fact that homosexuality is widespread in most of the higher animals and has obvious survival value in some cases we have studied tends to suggest that it's a normal genetic variation.

If after all this time no one knows... if after all the history of homosexuality being part of the human and animal condition, why continue to deny them rights?

Do you think that someone will discover a cure? Do you want to continue denying them rights in the hope that someday we'll find one?

If you don't want gays to marry, do you support civil unions? I'd certainly be satisfied with that compromise. Take all the secular benefits that marriage gives a couple and put those in civil unions. The only thing "marriage" would have over civil unions is the sanction of the church.

I call that a win-win. What say you?
