Australia did not have a recession but people here are still buying smaller cars, Fords close down here because it rely on larger cars but Toyota which makes smaller care is still going.
Whether it is caused by the higher price of gasoline or fear of pollution may be hard to prove here, but in other areas such as using insolation and solar energy bats there has been a huge increase.

Look back at car buying patterns back in oil pricing spikes going back to the 70's and Ibelieve you will find that Australia did as America did which was to buy higher milage cars. There was no hysteria over CO2, just a very note worthy jump in gas prices.

A forthcoming report points lowers estimates on global warming

Later this month, a long-awaited event that last happened in 2007 will recur. Like a returning comet, it will be taken to portend ominous happenings. I refer to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) "fifth assessment report," part of which will be published on Sept. 27.

There have already been leaks from this 31-page document, which summarizes 1,914 pages of scientific discussion, but thanks to a senior climate scientist, I have had a glimpse of the key prediction at the heart of the document. The big news is that, for the first time since these reports started coming out in 1990, the new one dials back the alarm. It states that the temperature rise we can expect as a result of man-made emissions of carbon dioxide is lower than the IPPC thought in 2007.

Solar energy is declining in price largely due to lower costs for panels. This is despite fewer dollars for government subsidies.

That's just like we are finding out that biofuels add to global warming. Solar and wind can't make a dent on our energy needs. They are ugly, don't work half the time and are killing wildlife. Not much of a trade off.

I'm all for conservation and managing our resources wisely and responsibly, but putting these expensive, invasive, and damaging, mass produced ideas into laws and regulations before they've been fully studied is insane.

Just like what they've done to the Calif. farmers. They've cut off their water supply to save some dumb bait fish you could grow in fish farm and then don't say a word about all the thousands of endangered birds being chewed up by the wind farms.

Poachers kill more wildlife then all of solar, or wind. Hydropower created by dams kills off more fish to the point where in some areas salmon is almost extinct. Nuclear power has sickened, and killed, millions.
