The Tea Party will change America back to the days of Thomas Jefferson

With all due respect, if they do not believe our rights come from God then they will conclude that rights come from government. For people who believe that rights come from government, there is absolutely no limit to what can be considered a "right".

You are right they will believe that. If you cannot convince them that rights come from God what alternative is there? Though for the sake of clarity I believe that the founders said "the laws of Nature and Nature's God" which is a broader concept than just God. Even secularist can embrace the laws of nature which is an appeal to natural law. Whether that natural law is established by God or not may just be irrelevant to them.

You are correct, God wouldn't want men to commit injustice. . .but there is obviously a lot of subjectivity to the term "injustice!"
Yes and we get to work it out with guidance.
For what I am concern, "injustice" is to coddle the wealthy at the expenses of the poor, allowing the wealthy to gather enough power and money to drive the poor into dire misery.

I can find multiple verses to support this concept. But none that would support confiscating the wealth of those who have done well. A corrupt judge for example is to be tried and convicted if he does not excercise blind justice in which the law is applied equally to the rich and the poor..

For you injustice is for the poor to ask that the very wealthy contribute to the community well being by foregoing a minor part of their "income!"

The wealthy are indeed asked - they are not compelled by the force of the police to comply.
I wonder which (the poor or the wealthy) Jesus would support. .
.

I highly doubt that kind of class warfare would be advocated. Show me. But a kind of justice based on the rule of law would be.

Show my such a parable and we can discuss it.

But you have not answered the question: In your opinion would God want people to oppose, at the very least by saying it is wrong, for one person to steal another person's IPOD?

Yes and we get to work it out with guidance.

It is wrong to steal. . .even a candy.

It is MUCH more sinful to kill. . .to protect that candy!

Which do you think would be more of a major sin in God's eyes?

I know which is in MY eyes.

Would this one do?

Text
Luke 16:19-31

[19] "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. [20] At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores [21] and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

[22] "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. [23] In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. [24] So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

[25] "But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. [26] And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

[27] "He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, [28] for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

[29] "Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'

[30] " 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'

[31] "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Where in that passage does it say you should use government to FORCE rich people to give to the poor?

Where does it say you shouldn't if the wealthy are too greedy to do it themselves?

And. . .did you know that this idea of what you love to call "class warfare" actually started with the GOP's greatest Hero, President Reagan?

Here it is, a video from the Reagan library archive, a speech he made in June 1985 to a high school in Atlanta. Very informative!

I guess he read the New Testament too! ;):D

Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Jay Bookman, in a blog post, looks back at President Ronald Reagan's 1985 speech at Northside High School, now ...

It says it right there in the passage.... The rich man's relatives would have to choose, by their own free will, to listen to Moses and the Prophets or suffer eternal damnation. You can't force someone into salvation.

Class warfare was around long before Reagan.

Neither the Capital Gains Tax Rate or the Progressive Income Tax rate are a loophole.

I don't care about other people's "salvation." I care about fairness and about people suffering in THIS life time.

Funny how you "pass over" the words of Reagan, while they were almost exactly the same words used by Obama. . .which so made him a "socialist," and a "class warfare advocate!"

Hypocrisy, again!

And we will never agree on economics. . .

An Atheist just used your passage from the bible to show that you were wrong and all you can do is change the subject. :)

Actually, I don't think I am wrong.

And, do not assume that I am a "Christian!"

Although I was raised as one, I do not believe in manmade dogmas, and only USE them the same way you do!

There are more than enough charities to help out and give money to if anyone feels they need to help the poor. Govt is not there to take care of people. Govt is inefficient and wastes money. Charities get more bang for the buck. There are inner city Gospel missions, church food banks, medical teams, dentists, and many others who donate time to help the poor. That's the way to do it.

So true. The problem is lib politicians and govt' bureaucrats have learned that buying votes with welfare, is a great way to obtain positions of power and wealth. They could care less about the consequences. They have no shame.

Exactly. It's all about power. We also need to get education out of the feds control. We spend more and things get worse.
