BAGHDAD (ANS) -- The Reverend Canon Andrew White, affectionately known as The Vicar of Baghdad, says the situation for Christians in Iraq is "clearly worse" than under the Saddam Hussein regime, toppled by US and Coalition forces in 2003.

In a segment of the CBS news program 60 Minutes, originally broadcast on Dec. 2, 2007, updated June 26 and aired on June 29, 2008, correspondent Scott Pelley asked Canon White: "You were here during Saddam’s reign. And now after. Which was better? Which was worse?"

"The situation now is clearly worse” than under Saddam, White replied.

"There’s no comparison between Iraq now and then," he told Pelley. "Things are the most difficult they have ever been for Christians. Probably ever in history. They’ve never known it like now."

As I Understand the New Egyptian President does not have complete power. The Army is calling for new Elections for Parliament and a new Constitution. I suspect this constitution will protect rights for minorities like Christians as in Indonesia.

actually no they don't.,,,my friend lived there for years and never was forced to wear one...while she could not dress like she likes to here...she was not forced to wear one there.

the Wearing of the Burka is not even part of Islam...but was a choice by woman fighting against western ideas and was used as a symbol of power...The Wives of Mahammad did though no one else did....and it was a way to be like them...and against the image of the west while the west was useing there nations as nothing more then a place to take resources from. I have some news for you, the taliaban have a warped twisted version of Islam.. Its like saying the westboro Church does something and saying Christians Belive it then. There is no single place in the Koran that says one must wear it...in fact for a long time most did not...Difference being in Afghanistan you have the Westboro church being funded and armed by Pakistan until it could take power...In a nation of poor and uneducated who where looking for any group to take power and just have stability...People to often confuse Culture with the Religion...Mohammad wives where treated with the utmost respect...something the taliban forgets because it does not fit there message. Its one of the great things About Religion...you can make any Religion one of Violence or one of peace...with the same book...Its all about what you choose to use and what you choose to ignore.
