Obama's plan essentially comes down to this: 1) if you have health insurance now, you'll have to pay more for it in the future, in return for less care; 2) if you don't have health insurance now, you'll get it 'on the cheap', in the future, but it won't provide adequate care. Nobody wins.

Yeah...we still haven't given the status-quo enough time prove it's worth!!

"Analysts say the new rates will force insurers to cut benefits for elderly and disabled patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans or increase premiums in order to maintain profit margins."

Hell....we still haven't implemented the human-sacrifice option, yet!

Pocket, I personally know a woman who is Canadian and this happened to her. Do you really expect me to ask her for a document?

She doesnt complain about Canada health care or anything, she just told me what was going on and how it was worth it to her to pay for it here.

I've got a friend who found this woman....and, my friend said this woman admitted to being waterboarded into making such a statement.....but, don't ask for any documentation. It's a matter o' National Security.​

Well I think the actual face to face conversations I've had with Canadians and the Canadian poll that shows 91% of Canadians like their heathcare system just fine... kinda flies in the face of your opinion here.

In fact when we vacationed together in Cozumel a year ago they kept razzing' me the whole time because I would question them on things like... Doesn't it take you a long time to get to see a doctor because it's free?

The husband laughed and said... Hon, bout how long did we take to see the doctor last time? She replied... Oh, we called a couple days ahead of time and after we got there less than a hour, eh.

They won't even come to the US without buying an insurance rider covering them while they're here because they're so used to being covered all the time at home.

I kept telling them that there's a group in the states that say there system is terrible and they just looked at each other completely bewildered like...Why would they think that.

And it gets worse. People in Canada know that our health insurance is tied to our jobs. But they think we have the Welfare system that automatically steps up and covers anyone without a job.

When I told them... Oh no, if you lose your job and get sick or hurt and run up doctor bills they just come collecting and can they can even go after your property or your home... they were completely out! They were like... Well there's no way I'd ever want that!

These are first hand conversations with real Canadians in their late 50's that live in Yellow Knife. And I've had similar ones with a young Chinese couple in their late 20's that are Canadians that live in Toronto. They use it, they like it.

And besides that ours in the United States will be even better than the Canadian system. We are not just copying the Canadian system.

Funny how when Clinton was in office, sex scandals were not important. Now that we have real issues to discuss they're off talking about sex.

The difference here is (assuming shaman is even serious) I do personally know two people who deal with and have dealt with Canadian health care and shaman is claiming to know someone who knows someone. Both people I know say its better than nothing but when you need specialists or emergency care they are glad they have the USA option.

Instead of LYAO why not add something to the conversation like why you like the idea of national health care or something ... Something besides LYAO, having HOLY BAT CRAPS and JEEZING LOUISE!!!! with a number of personal insults between, but no real addition to the conversation.

You keep bringing up the term hypothetical. Do you realize every time you bring that up you remind me that you could in no way not even a small degree defend your belief that its ok to make a almost term baby be partially born then stabbed in the back of the head “to save the life of a woman”

You were asked (by more than just myself) to give any scenario where this could ever save a woman’s life, even a hypothetical one would do and I would change my position on partial birth abortion.

You could not come up with even one situation where it would save the life of a woman if you made her deliver a baby breech and stab the baby in the back of the head. Instead you started attacks to me or anyone who asked you this question and you still go on with your “hypothetical” mantra, but all it does is remind me that you could in no way defend your belief in partial birth abortion to save the life of a woman. If it were me I would want to forget I was utterly defeated in my position and never bring it up again.

Happens every single day and those people die without every chance. Why aren't the Republicants screaming for this... DON'T LET THE INSURANCE COMPANY COME BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR!!!

Because they're in the established monopolies pocket that's why.

If we gave up on Universal Healthcare, just threw in the towel like the Republicants would like, do you think the Republicants would then stand up for regular working people and say... IF THE DOCTOR ORDERS IT YOU INSURANCE COMPANIES MUST PAY IT!

Top Gun, I do not think republicans, or at least most of them are against some sort of change. I think everyone agrees there needs to be change in the health care system. National health care is not the only possible option, we should look into other things first. Something similar to Canada, England and other countries seems like a really dumb idea when they are not working very well for them and we are much bigger. We have a system like no other... we should fix it instead of copy an already failing system.

Top Gun, I do not think republicans, or at least most of them are against some sort of change. I think everyone agrees there needs to be change in the health care system. National health care is not the only possible option, we should look into other things first. Something similar to Canada, England and other countries seems like a really dumb idea when they are not working very well for them and we are much bigger. I want you to know I think your heart is in the right place. And sure I think Republicans know our healthcare system has major problems.

But this is the thing. They'll never do ANYTHING about it. The only thing they'll ever do is repeat the old lines... give companies more tax breaks to offer more insurance coverage & have people get special non-taxed health insurance savings accounts. That's all you'll ever hear and that won't do anything to help the major healthcare gaps.

We have 2 wars going on and Bush & the Republicants took us from a surplus to a huge debt no matter what President Obama does. The fact is we need tax revenue bad right now and the Republicants solution to healthcare is cut corporate taxes even more.

If you really look into it the type of plan President Obama is looking for is a hybrid plan of private with a Universal safety net not what they have in Canada (which I'm tellin' ya the people I know up there like pretty darn well, and really like when they find out we can be sued and lose everything just for medical bills down here).

When this started I would have been fine with just about any positive change. I would have been fine with keeping the private part like it is and letting families without healthcare buy into the Medicaid system on the cheap... say up to $80 per month per person or up to $150 a month per family.

But just doing nothing was all that ever happend... delay, delay, delay.

So we now have someone serious about doing something when something is not working as is is. You may not agree with anything President Obama does but I'm sure you do at least see how I'm getting to my conclusion that doing nothing is not an option.
