Here's some different views about mainstream religion. It's not all it seems.

Christianity is not nationalistic. Jesus was pro Jewish and anti-Roman, perhaps, as was Paul, but then the Emperor Constantine made it the official religion of the Empire.

Christianity is not democratic, either. It is monarchical . Jesus is presented as the perfect and eternal King of King, Lord of Lords, yada yada yada.
