In all fairness, what Ivana introduced was a token health care system like a type of starter pack for kids.
Where it was fully instituted it covered everyone from day one. A levy on the tax people paid covered the cost plus tax rises in other areas.
In the countries where it exists, no one has ever protested against its abolition. In fact, in Australia in in 2013, the then right wing prime minister, publically toyed with the idea of destroying it to make way for big health. He lost his seat at the next election he was the second one in history in over 100 years to do it.
His party soon shelved that idea.
My point still is, USA has never tried it but are extremely critical of it. That's the weird part.
