Priest: Obama Admin. Denied Mass to Catholics

How about trying this one on for size? Here is the press release headline from Congressman Tim Huelskamp’s office this afternoon:

Obama Administration Denies Mass to Catholics

Apparently, a priest was denied access to a military chapel this weekend. Father Ray Leonard serves at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia but because of the government shutdown, he wasn’t allowed to go to celebrate Mass this past weekend.

He is contracted by the Defense Department to meet the spiritual needs of Catholics, but not now. The chapel doors were locked and the sign said, “Shutdown: No Catholic service till further notice.”

Father Leonard said the following:

“This is our church, Catholics have an expectation and obligation to attend Mass and we were told, ‘No you can’t go to church this week…“ My parishioners were upset. They were angry and dismayed. They couldn’t believe that in America they’d be denied access to Mass by the government.”

1st Amendment to the US Constitution

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Priests Risk Arrest for Offering Sacraments to Catholic Troops During Shutdown

(CNSNews.com) – Some Catholic priests under contract or GS (general schedule) to the military are not allowed to offer the Catholic sacraments--including saying Mass, consecrating marriages, or performing baptisms--on military property during the government shutdown, and if they do, even on a volunteer basis, they risk being arrested, according to the general counsel for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.

aus you do realize Dowd isjust an opinion bitwriter correct ?
Yes I realise it is only an opinion . However I sometimes agree with here. The USA by missing the APEC conference in Bali has shown it is no longer the leading power in this part of the world. The Asian Pacific countries at this conference have stated to negotiate a free trade agreement.

In any case dowd might be too optismistic. Elton John the British pop star says mankind will not last to 2030.

that was Sir Bob Geldof he formerly of the Boomtown Rats but more recently driving force of Live Aid. Must be no golf courses on Bali thats about all BO would have done.

Grand Canyon Cites People For Entering Closed Park

TUSAYAN, Ariz. (AP)Nearly two dozen people have been issued citations for entering Grand Canyon National Park after a partial government shutdown forced its closure.

Grand Canyon Chief Ranger Bill Wright says some people have been caught at the South Rim, on trails, attempting rim-to-rim hikes or trying to sneak in through dirt roads.

All of the citations will be handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Wright says each of the 21 citations issued as of Monday has a mandatory order to appear in federal court.

All of this while Obama allows illegals to rally on the "Closed" Washington Mall!

Like I said,,Who likes cops? I don't! That's why I clap and cheer every night when I hear an officer or an deputy gets shot on the news. They don't give a shit about you so,,Why should we care about them?

I agree. It's great the park rangers are doing their jobs. What idiot would want to go into the Grand Canyon when there is no search and rescue help if they need it.
