My white Christian grandkids will be minority in this country. What should we do to stop this madness I am very afraid

When one looks at the way the white, Christian majority has treated the various minorities in this country, then perhaps your becoming a minority is just God's way of showing you what it's like, judgment if you will--chickens coming home to roost as it were.

The white majority is made up of the Irish who were a minority, the italians who were a minority, the polish who were a minority, etc.

Classifying people as white or black or whatever does not help the race relations in this country. When I look at my skin and compare it to a piece of typing paper it is not white. Everyone is really just some shade of brown.

The sooner we all realize that the sooner we can move forward. My hope is that we will create the country we were meant to be, the country in which all men are treated as equals the way God made us. Then no matter what the racial makeup of the country a hundred years from now all men will be respected.

Fair and just and color blind laws are what we need.

Holy cow... Someone spoke truth in a political forum! Write that down. Isn't it amazing how liberals who complain and whine about racism and prejudice the most... are ALWAYS the first to lump everyone together as "white" and "black" and then make broad brush accusations against one group?

I wasn't aiming at a perfect taxonomic delineation, my point was that people who considered themselves both "white" and "Christian" (subjective classifications, I'll admit) have abused pretty much every other minority in US history. I could actually have also added "male" into it along with white, Christian, because the males have been subjugating the females with physical force and religous dogma for centuries.

More than anything I was poking fun at Bokie's fears, it's always scary when you've been the big dog on the block and someone displaces you. It comes to all of us as we age, nobody can be the stud-duck forever.

Or at least people they suspect might be liberals, or even the people who probably aren't liberals but are people you don't agree with, or people who are definitely NOT liberals who write things you don't understand--which makes you feel inferior, so you CALL them liberals because it's such a good catchall term for people you don't like.

Not really. I call liberals, liberal, because that is the position they take. Although it is possible to take a conservative stance on one issue, while taking a liberal stance on other, that is uncommon.

Further, it has nothing to do with 'liking' them. I have had many friends that were undoubtedly liberal, that I liked.

I suppose it is possible to not know that your position on an issue is liberal since ignorance is a prerequisite to being liberal.

Nummy says that he supports Amnesty and that Fat Americans prove we need Amnesty. Nummy also says that privately owned and operated companies in China prove Socialism works, and he supports socialism. I called Nummyboy a liberal... not because I don't get his insane logic, and I don't. Rather, Nummy is a liberal because he supports Amnesty and Socialism. It has nothing to do with whether I get the dumb 'logic' he writes.

On a personal note: I have been accused many times of racist simply because I'm a white Christian male. Amusingly most of my friends are minorities. My closest friend to this day, is a small african-muslim girl. I point this out not to say "I so graat!" or some stupid self importance, but just to show that this is what I've been subjected to by people who were liberals. On the reverse, I don't ever remember doing that in return. As I stated, I have had many liberal friends.

My problem here is, can you name for me a group from any country or religious background that hasn't abused minorities? This isn't a defense, it's a point of why do you focus on one abusive group over another? Further, we fixed those issues. Why do we keep bringing it back up?

And as far as women go, it was the teaching of Jesus Christ that brought them out of being considered nothing more than property. In fact, it was Christ who said a man should lay down his life for the sake of his wife. He was considered crazy at the time he taught that.

Beyond that, last I heard it was a different religion that taught 'honor killings' and allowed for a father to murder their daughter over what head garment she wore.

I was mocking Bokile's fear of "others", I wasn't trying to say that any one group was superior to any other group. Bigotry of any kind is based on fear and ignorance--doesn't matter who you are bashing, Andy.

kinda demonstrates that everyone calls everyone something and it doesn't really matter what they themselves are or what the other people are because we all will be categorized and labeled by someone. People are labeled because they are liberals, conservatives, christians, atheists, jewish, gay, etc. By the time we are done listing all the things that people are labeled for everyone is included. If we were to list the people who are doing the labeling then everyone would be included in that list too.

And that he's a bit nutz. Bokile seem like a decent guy, but for the most part he never really says much other than and listing some link somewhere. If you ask him to elaborate, he merely copying a ton of text from the link and then pastes it into the forum.

As for his fears... quite frankly, I'm likely to marry an Asian or Mexican girl over an American one, they seem to know marriage is supposed to last a lifetime. Pigment is just different levels in the skin. There is no real "white" or "black".

The real difference is religion/culture. That is a bit more understandable. There are some specific cultures and religions that lend themselves to violence than others. But there is little we can do about that.

Anyone who looks with an open mind will discover that the earliest records of Christianity show clearly that there is NO evidence that Jesus ever even existed. The religion is an eclectic mix of stuff plaigarized from other cultural and religious traditions. Most people won't bother to look though, it's just SOOO much more comfortable to believe what Mommy and Daddy taught you, believe what the Preacher tells you, and believe what the people around you believe. Thinking for yourself can a painful and dangerous process. Organized religion is about comfort and control, not truth.
