Is homosexuality a choice or is it genetic?

Mare feels the need to expound on this particular part of his anatomy. God knows he hasn't said anything worthy of even a semblance of contemplation.

I think that if people were left to their own desires, without adults suggesting one way or the other anything to people in those manners, I think somewhere between half and 3/4 of people would be bisexual, and 5% would be absolutely one way or the other, everyone else being somewhere between.
I think there are people who are absolutely gay and would be no matter what they were taught and/or had experienced, and I think there are people who are absolutely straight and would be no matter what they were taught and/or had experience.
I don't think the government should be involved with marriage at all. If people want to make a business contract and have a marriage ceremony to make it official in their minds, they should be able to do that. This way, the legality of that kind of business arrangement could be extended to anybody, any group of people, that want it, and churches would be able to continue doing things exactly as they have without any threat of having to support something they don't believe in.
I think to adopt, there just needs to be caring people. But for that child's life to be decently balanced, there needs to be at least two elements that would be in that child's life that show some opposites. If a child is raised by two people with the same mindset, it really doesn't seem like it would be very good for the child because their upbringing would be one-sided. A whole community would actually be the best way to raise a child, but those days are long gone. I'm blabbering.

I don't have the time to sift through 51 pages of this thread but has anyone brought up that there are about 8 different genders that are born?
like male, female, male born with internal female organs, females born with make external organs, females born with male internal organs... and some other combinations.

And there are 9 different chromosome patterns found in human beings too. The XX and XY we were taught about in school have been joined by 7 more and we now know that the chromosome pattern is not a guarantee of gender since there are normal males with the XX pattern and normal females with the XY.
People don't seem to want to talk about any of these things though. Religion and pseudo-science have been carrying the day--as usual.

so maybe this proves that religion needs reform?
what happened to Christianity being pluralistic? didn't Jesus teach that we should accept everyone? whereas Islam doesn't... but that's another story. there are no homosexuals in Iran.

Actually, it can be disputed, I speak at University classes on these subjects and every once in a while someone says, "No sir, no sir!" Hell, both of my brothers do that regularly.

ok, maybe I should rephrase... there are those who are in denial of science who are dumba$$es. how's that?
there is a certain amount of fear, especially among males, about homosexuality. probably because the path to the prostate is located inside the anus. the meme of fear from rape of little boys throughout history probably still lingers too. psychologically from the development in the early childhood might cause the taboo as well. which leaves probably more than half of our population... mental. well 2/3's according to your siblings.

I think that there is another source for the homophobia that envelops many men. Men tend to have a strong and (often) predatory sex drive (3 out of 5 women will be assualted in their lifetimes) and knowing this about themselves it scares them to death to think about other men finding them sexually attractive because it presents the possibility of them being victimized in the same way that women are victimized--and that scares them to death. In this culture there are very few things more shameful for a man than being womanly or feminine (that's why male to female transsexuals are most often the victims of male violence) and being raped by another man is so shameful that... it's practically unthinkable, therefore it's better to do the preemptive strikes, hit back first, and keep the queers beaten down for one's own personal safety. Do you really think that gays in the military is an issue because they might wimp out? No way, it's the terror of a big, physically fit, well trained fighting machine who finds YOU sexually enticing. Whoooo!

that 3 out of 5 thing is disturbing. because it's true.
so does the responsibility go to the women to be more defensive then?
funny how not many men aren't sponsoring defensive courses for women... to keep the crop vulnerable...?
in a balanced eco-system the predators are necessary but I wonder how the math goes with the current population on the planet.
