Remember when you ran away

And I got on my knees and begged

You not to leave

Because I'd go berserk?

You left me anyhow and then

The days got worse and worse

And now you see I've gone

Completely out of my mind.

And

They're coming to take me away, Ha-ha

They're coming to take me away, Ho-ho

Hee-hee-haa-haa

To the funny farm

Where life is beautiful all the time

And I'll be happy to see those

Nice young men in their clean white coats and

They're coming to take me away, ha-ha! (x 2)

You thought it was a joke

and so you laughed, you laughed,

when I had said that losing you

would make me flip my lid.

Right?

You know you laughed

I heard you laugh

You laughed, you laughed

and laughed and then you left but

Now you know I'm utterly mad

And..and...and....

They're coming to take me away, Ha-ha

They're coming to take me away, Ho-ho

Hee-hee-haa-haa

To the funny farm

Where life is beautiful all the time

@FelipeCaldeRON = Persona non grata, Instead of being designed as research professor in Harvard University @Kennedy_School

http://tinyurl.com/bv65ysh

Sergio Aguayo

(December 26th., 2012). - In a few days Felipe Calderon will be installed as a research professor at the Kennedy School of Harvard University. I maintain that it is an insult to our victims, an attack on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and a violation of the principles that advocates American university.

Calderón reported back positive macroeconomic figures, freedom of expression and access to information. It can even be understood that the war against organized crime was necessary, because they had to confront the problem, albeit it was arguably the strategy adopted and the way he managed the conflict. The former President has a indefensible behavior toward the social cost of the war: more than 60 000 deaths, at least 25 000 people missing, 260,000 displaced, tens of thousands of migrants kidnapped, etc..

In the Bill of Rights and Responsibilities of the Kennedy School, it’s said that those who are part of that community, are characterized by respect towards "the dignity of others" and to take into account the "impact that policies have on people." In the misión of Harvard University, it’s read that its members will assume "responsibility for the consequences of [the] personal actions."

Calderon did not respect the dignity of the victims, dismissed from the consequences of their policies and evaded responsibility for his acts. The actions display him as someone indifferent, irresponsible and inhumane. In none of his farewell speeches included some words of empathy for those who paid the bills for the war on crime. More serious was the firmness with which withheld information about what was happening. I demonstrate this claim with the persons that are missing, one of the most serious violations of human rights.

To gauge its meaning, I use a text from Peregil Francisco in El País (December 23) in which tells the story of Argentina Sen. Norma Morandini, who discovered, thanks to a text published in this newspaper, that in 1977 the military launched her two brothers into the sea from an airplane. In a few sentences condensed the burden size that she had to bear over 35 years: "It's very hard and very difficult to convey the meaning of the word disappeared. It's a ghost. But to be a ghost it is nothing. Without any presence.him t odie, you have not seen you die and nobody expressed any condolences, no liturgy or tomb. You never think them dead; that is very different than to expect them appearing alive. "

Calderon commited himself several times to create a national register of victims because he declared last October it is important that "we all know where the people who suffer most." Now we know that at least in the case of Messing, the Attorney General's Office had throughout the six years the record: but it was never released. When his government ended PGR officials gave him the correspondent of the Washington Post, William Booth a list with 25,000 missing (published November 29th.).
The Research and Training Center for Civic Proposal a ivil organismo I preside, received from Los Angeles Times correspondent’s Tracy Wilkinson, that she obtained a document from PGR employees with names and conditions of 20,851 people disappeared Turing @FelipeCalderon six years term in office. Whoever takes the trouble to check the text (www.propuestacivica.org.mx) determine the low priority given to the issue, the complaints were not investigated. Sources within the PGR peñanietista say they can not find those files, which perhaps means that were stolen by the retreating calderonism.

Part of the American people is concerned about what is happening in Mexico. Between the Indicators is the decision of the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University to grant Marcela Turati M. Louis Award Lyons for being one of the reporters who reports "systematically on victims in the war on drugs, " and because it protects journalists threatened, according to the foundation "Mexico had became one of the world's most dangerous countries for the press."`/i]

Within the university there are those who think differently. The director of the Kennedy School, Professor David Ellwood, called former President Calderon as "…a living example of a public [...] committed." A baseless assertion because evidence shows it as an insensitive ruler: his government failed to investigate what happened to the missing and deliberately concealed important information for families

Instead of naming him persona non grata the Kennedy School decided to insult and violate its principles to be complicit in the concealment of one of the most egregious humanitarian tragedies and important century. A shame. .

ABOUT POLITICS AND WORST THINGS…
By Armando Fuentes Aguirre

The National Rifle Association is a shame for AMERICA.

Its executives say they defend a principle of freedom. But they are lying: because the only thing they defend is a business. Nobody spends so much Money, to protect an alleged constitutional right, whose unrestricted application causes thousands of deaths each year. The CEO of this nefarious association, a man named Wayne LaPierre, reached the last end of foolishness, when he proposed, after the killing of 20 children in Connecticut, that the teachers of the schools should be armed to defend themselves and their students before the attack of a murderer. What can wield those weapons to assault peaceful citizens of a madman who carries an arsenal as those used by the Army in the wars, and whose purchase can be made with less difficulty than a pharmacy drug? Mexico is also a victim of the NRA. Arms trafficking in the United States, added to our own corruption, weapons proliferation is a major cause of violence we suffer. Feared and dreaded, the NRA represents a new form of McCarthyism: nobody can oppose his policies without being subject to insane campaigns of harassment that contradict the very principles on which the American nation was founded. It is time to impose controls on the sale and use of firearms in the United States. If not treated as soon as possible my outcry, their health will find it ...

The “Mexican Venice” Xochimilco is dead

By Rodolfo Soriano Nuñez

http://tinyurl.com/bv65ysh

I haven’t visited Xochimilco since several years ago. The terrible distance, endless ocupations and and urban highway works on the second floor of South Loop made absurd to go that far.,

However in these holidays som friends from NYC visited Mexico City. When they asked what should we visit in Meixico City, y suggested to g oto Xochimilco.

Knowing that they would like of scenery that weren`t the classic “Mexican Curious” from the ’50, so they can`t make a cartoon of what Mexico City is, I decided to take them to the pier of the Xochimilco ecological park.

One attraction of the Ecological Park was roaming the grounds on which they had been careful enough to plant native plants of the Anáhuac Valley. In fact it restored a water body to an increasingly dry environment; the Valley also served to alleviate the heat in the spring and, above all, to provide the much needed rain in Mexico during the summer.

What I have found this thursday December 27 was a wreck. A ruin which, of course, does not even have the appeal that may have the archeological ruins of Cuicuilco, or the ruins of the Templo Mayor. And more than a ruin, is a monument of neglect, corruption and, above all, stupidity.

The original design of the Park included— for example — an archway that connects the entrance to the Pier of the Park, which were placed on the sides, a lot of metal and concrete benches. Behind the seats, there were different types of plants and flowers native to the Valley of Mexico, for greater enjoyment of space, that were accompanied by signs, explaining the historically popular and scientific names of plants and their uses by the people of Anahuac.

The arcade connnects the Entrance woth the pier

The only thing left right now are piles of dirt and vegetation that grows almost wild, without any care or information. They are an endless succession of mounds, crowned with plants, some perennials, such as dandelions. Lake side, tulle grow and grow without anyone to stop them, and the side of the park, trash piles everywhere. The seats, for the most part, are destroyed, useless. A witness of the contempt and irresponsibility of the authorities.

THEDESTROYEDBENCHES_zps53f22200.jpg

In the original design of the pier, besides that the excesses of the Cuemanco’s pier were avoided, with loud music from the business whose owners are so stupid to believe that the quality of their service is directly proportional to the noise generated by their sound equipment, but care was taken to provide health services, as well as tables and grills for that those who wished, could celebrate family day camps.
But even the toilet services are in very bad shape. And it’s not because they were dirty, but the water faucets of the urinals, W.C, and sinks are wide open, and you can’t close them. It’s a constant systematic waste of clean water.

What I found this thurdays was a shameful situation. Lo que encontré este jueves fue una situación penosa. Lots of “trajineras” ( the boats that run over the water channels) were discarded, rotten and corroded in the west end of the pier, while the water lilies, the main enemy of any body of water, suffocating all the fishes and ”ajolotes” in the original design, that were to serve as food for migratory birds.

LILIESONTHEFIRSTPLANEANDDESTROYEDTRAJINERASATTHEBOTTOM_zps690425eb.jpg
When you start the tour in the “trajineras” (boats), the first thing you notice is a dirty brown mud color, d like a water flooding. Also surprising is how the waterways have been narrowed and disproportionately growing of the pests, as water lilies.

LILIESANDMORELILIESALLLOVERTHEPLACE_zpsf6c8b637.jpg
Lilies and more lilies…. Everywhere…
When we asked to the Boat (“trajinera”) driver, who kindly was conducting the boat with his own force, he started a cascade of complaints, against the authorities of the borough , of the ecological Park of the police police allegedly should monitor compliance with the "Manual of tourist behavior in the Xochimilco channnels"
The worst of all is that the . “Trajineras” (boats) rowers have lost any confidence in the viability of the Ecological Park because, despite being charged for services, there is no clarity on the fate of the resources that have entered every year of service.

During the tour major problems were evident. First, the water level is dangerously low. So low that in some areas of the lake is dangerous because there is a danger of hitting the Stones of the bottom, or to get stuck in the mud and don’t being able to get out.

WATEDUSEDTOBEATTHEHEIGHTOFTHEWHITEPOSTS_zps187148bf.jpg

The trash board is the constant that separates Cuemanco Pier from the Lake Ecological Park. The garbage, which is dominated by bags and plastic bottles, cans and all other drinks, difficults any animal species, fish or frogs, in the channels and favors, however, the presence of vermin that competes with migratory birds for the water use.

Besides all the troubles, there ‘s an intrinsec beauty in Xochimilco; the channels are the life reminder that the intelligence and sensibility of the first inhabitants in the Anahuac Valley, that knew how to develop a technology, that without causing the ecological chaos we have created, the achieved an equilibrium between the existente of the salt water of one lake, from Texcoco, with a fresh water lake, such as Xochimilco and Chalco.

DESPITEALLTHESEPROBLEMS_zps70137c9b.jpg

I know that the situation found on the pier it is not the sole responsibility of u¡one authority. To the ecological crime commited there ecological crime contribute equally the Cuemanco piers that are not careful to avoid noise or reduce the use of plastic bags and bottles.

It is the acountability of the federal governmentm the Mexico City’s goernment, and the Mexico State government also, specially the Chaco Borough from Mexico State, who have neglected important aspects of the precarious balance in the lake, as the amount of square meters of land that have been wildly and irresponsibly urbanized. This has been done to meet short-term interests of "real estate developers" and public officials that "facilitate" building permits or simply” looking the other side” without preventing further construction in the basin of the former Lake Chalco-Xochimilco .

Of course that water authorities from the federal government, from the local MExico City’s government, and by the Mexico State, are acoountable of all this mess, as they can not see de risk suffered by those water bodies in the Valley of Anahuac.

However, I believe that the main responsibility lies with the Mexico City’s authority, that in the past six years leaved the Ecological Park and, more generally, the former Lake of Xochimilco to enter into a dynamic of constant and systematic degradation.

One example of such irresponsibility is offered by the police officers, whom even having acuatic units to watch and monitor the channels, they chose not to do it. In the almost four hours I ‘ve been , the omly policemen that I saw where in the Cuenmanco Pier, talking between them , while the people of other ”trajineras” were throwing food to the different species of birds, throwng garbage, and at least in one case, wore a stereo blaring.

The rower of the “trajinera” (boat) narrated the episodes of drunk teenagers, that even in front of their own parents, often disturb the tranquility of this space, and the police officers do not do anything about, being in the comfort of the dock until at least trice times, the excesses have caused the “trajineras” to rollover.

In returning to the pier of the Ecological Park, we had another surprise. The wind force and the very lower levels of water were against our luck. The rower was caught in the mud that now exist, where there was water. We had to help him, becoming rowers to get out of the trap of mud.
La trampa de lodo en que caímos...

And we were not the only ones. Before we come back to the pier of the Ecological Park, another “Trajinera” (boat) with more people, suffered the same fate. And what we had to do, that other passengers had to help the “trajinera” (boat) rower, as would otherwise have been trapped in the quagmire.
IMPROVISEDROWER_zpsa378eece.jpg
Was there any help from the police officers of this place? OF course not. Other rowers were those who came from earth to ask our boatman if he needed help. No assistance was needed by other rowers thanks to us,.the passengers. Otherwise I do not know how long it would have taken to be free from the trap of mud .

The returning to the parking lot was also disappointing. Some boys, were playing with a football ball, despite the Manual expressly prohibits such activities.

TheMexicoCity’s government just created an authority responsible for the heritage area of Xochimilco. No doubt there are good intentions behind this decision, but also clear to me that the road to hell is paved with good intentions and second floors in “EL Periférico del sur.”

If, as evidenced by the decision to build the second floor, the logic of Mexico City’s government and the Government of Mexico will continue to encourage the use of cars and further facilitate the development of the basin near the ancient Lake Xochimilco -Chalco, ecological devastation of the Valley of Mexico will continue, of course, with the best intentions.
