The point eight K recorded change in temperature over the last 150 years is actually proof of a remarkably stable climate.

But the recordings are woefully inadequate to make any statement that it is warming. We can't even say that it has not warmed in the last eleven years because no one is taking any representative measurements of the earths temperature. Read between the lines and you will see the climate alarmists saying that we have not seen warming recently because the heat has really moved to areas that we are not measuring. Well duh! if we are not measuring some areas then we have no idea how much warming has or has not changed. Couldn't the recordings of warmer years in the decade before just mean that heat was moving from the unmeasured areas to the measured areas?

Are you aware of the plethora of examples of data tampering regarding the temperature record? Here are just a few:

The sad fact is that at this point, very few people on the earth have any idea what the actual temperature record is and clearly, they don't want it to become public knowldege. Considering the extent to which temperatures all over the world have been altered, what is your basis for claiming that the present decade is the warmest ever?

You might want to migrate, from US temps, to average global temperatures, for both land and sea! Also, your 1998 was an El Nino year, which needs to be reviewed, with the more relevant information, about how the top ten temperature years were in 1998-2011, and 2012 will be another record-setting year, even though our solar cycle 24 is mild, and a lot of ice is melting, to force temperatures down, locally.

Current Analysis Method
The current analysisuses satellite observed nightlights to identify measurement stations located in extreme darkness and adjust temperature trends of urban and peri-urban stations for non-climatic factors, verifying that urban effects on analyzed global change are small. A paper describing the current analysis was published (Hansen et al. 2010) in Reviews of Geophysics in December 2010.

The paper compares alternative analyses, and address questions about perception and reality of global warming. Alternative choices for the ocean data are tested. It is shown that global temperature change is sensitive to estimated temperature change in polar regions, where observations are limited. We suggest use of 12-month (and n×12) running mean temperature to fully remove the annual cycle and improve information content in temperature graphs.

We conclude that global temperature continued to rise rapidly in the past decade, despite large year-to-year fluctuations associated with the El Niño-La Niña cycle of tropical ocean temperature. Record high global temperature during the period with instrumental data was reached in 2010. After that paper appeared, version 3 of the GHCN data became available. The current analysis is now based on the adjusted GHCN v3 data for the data over land. The ocean data are still based on Hadley Center's HadISST1 and Reynold's OISST based on satellite measurements.
