His incompetence was his failure to prevent Hamas from breaking down the walls and fences into Israel, permitting Hamas to kill and kidnap a large number of hostages.
The population of Gaza is over two million. At most, he has killed 39,000. That is 1.95% of the total population. He is certainly competent at committing an atrocity, but Israel cannot exterminate all the Gazans. Nor can it drive them away.
He wants Gazans to elect a puppet government that will refuse to allow its people to take any hostile action against the IDF terrorists that have destroyed their homes, forced them to move constantly from one place to another and has killed thousands of innocent women and children.
Israel's goal is to wipe out Hamas entirely, but the main thing that Hamas has going for it is their holding the hostages and the alliance they have with Hezbollah and the Hutus.
So Israel is saying to Hamas, "lay down your weapons and turn yourselves in, and release the hostages, and perhaps we won't execute you all."
Hamas is evil, but so is Netanyahu. He can cause destruction, but it will be futile in the long run.
When Israel holds it's next elections, I think that Netanyahu will be toast.
