I am an actual capitalist, by which mean that I use investments to generate a majority of my income. I believe that capitalism is an excellent way to generate income. But I also am aware that capitalism must be regulated and modified to ensure that all members of a society can get the basic necessities. Not everyone can be a capitalist. A majority of Americans are NOT capitalists, in fact.
Venezuela has been a very corrupt society since the early 1900's when huge oil deposits began to be exploited. Oil is by nature quite easy to be exploited. The is a hole in the ground and a machine pumping it out. The gauges that measure the flow are by necessity adjustable, because the viscosity of the oil is variable.
Social mobility in Western Europe is higher in every country but Portugal than it is in the US. It is impossible to have a state that is 100% capitalist, where all the highways and streets are toll roads, for example. Democratic Socialism when used with ombudsmen and honest civil servants results in a better life for all members of a society.
