This whole gay marriage thing is a farce. If gays think they can mainstream their lifestyle and force acceptance as normal behavior is fooling themselves.

its just comical that France is held up as some sort of beacon ot cultural evolution but continues to betray that notion.

They have already mainsteamed their lifestyle and most accept the behavior. It is marriage that is being debated.

That was interesting to learn. did the article posted above make the point that the number of people that showed up in the tiny country of France would be the equivalent of huge crowds where in the states?

not that I am aware of, just reporting a news story not an opinion piece near as I saw.

there are roughly 65m of them and its not like we are talking most of them. more curious to me was the relatively tiny numbers defending the practice. seems like mostly people have more important things to fill their days.

but the idea that the french are wildly more progressive in their thinking just seems like the joke it always was.

The protests were organised by the French Catholic Church and Pope Benedict also encouraged French bishops to oppose the reform initiated by the socialist government but same-sex marriage is already legal in eight European countries and France is a latecomer to this progressive trend.

The Catholic Church regards Marriage as a sacrament. It can not be received by people of the same sex.
However The State can give all civil union rights to gay couples as they do to defacto couples.

The state can give rights? Gee I thought that rights existed before the state did.

I like the French thinking. They were right to protest fags wanting 'equal' rights. Fags are nothing more than sickos.

I don't like your hateful attitude. People who want equal rights for marriage are simply ill informed.

    I don’t know what you’re problem is. . . But I’m pretty sure it’s hard to pronounce.

There was an interesting report in today's Guardian quoting and Italian newspaper to the effect that the Pope had resigned because of the vicious infighting between factions at the top of the RC Church, at least one of which was distinguished by its homosexuality. As with all secretive organisations, it would be nice to know to what degreee private behaviour follows public stance.
