The President of the US orders a private citizen to quit his job

Werbung:
what I think is funny is all this...Forced out...Fired...crap ...He was asked to Resigned...and did. He did not have to step down, GM did not have to ask him to step down..

Crying about breaking the law...show me where its against the law for the president to make a request.
It was not his place to make the request. That is the responsibility of the board of directors.

Why, though, and you have to wonder, did he not ask for the head of the Union to step down as well. While at it, he could get Sen Dodd to step down and Barney Frank for fouling up Fannie and Freddie.

actuly when you are asking him for money...it is his place to request just about anything he thinks is needed in order for them to get it.

Just like Jeff Immelt of G.E. G.E. received money as well, and Immelt has taken GE stock to the toilet as well.

You don't see Obma asking Immelt to step down. But you won't, because Obama needs Immelt if he's going to get his new "smart grid"

Where's the outrage?
Not only that, but Immelt is spending money lobbying the govt for the green technology knowing that it will be able to supply the govt with the technology for the plan.

This is pathetic.

Immelt is now on Obamas Economic Advisory Panel.

Is he the CEO of a company thats about to go under and asking for more money again? Nope, so try again...

They beg for money and you cry that they make them do things to that make it more likey its worth while.

Govt should not get involved. But if they do, which I don't condone, why not be consistent?

Immelt has run GE into the ground. They did receive money. Immelt is still there because Obama wants and needs him for his agenda. Period.

Sure. There is this neat document called the constitution. Go read it. You'll notice that nowhere does it give the federal government the right to either, buy a corporation, nor demand that a person in the corporation step down. For those who don't know ANYTHING about our constitution, the powers of the federal government are limited to the rights expressly stated that the federal government has.

As in, if it does not say the federal government has that right, then it does not. This is high school level education.

Further, when the government has 79% stock in the company, it really isn't a request anymore. They could simply call for a stock holders vote, and with 79% of the vote (or similar), he'd be gone instantly. He stepped down to avoid being voted out.

That said, I'm happy with this. Not that I'm happy with what Obama is doing, namely systematically destroying our economy, but how can I be upset with his choices, when I knew this is exactly what he'd do, before he even got elected?

No, the reason I'm happy is, I want every businessman, every chairman who asks for help from the government, to be completely screwed over. I want their careers ruined, their lives all turned upside down, and all their plans and work screwed over completely. I want Obama to back stab every single business guy who works with him. This is a wonderful thing.

When they business people realize that government will screw them over at every turn, they'll stop supporting government, and Obama, and his policies.

High school might have been a long time ago for some and who even knows if the teachers told them about the constitution...

But they know now, not that it will change how they think. obama said the constitution was a bunch of negative laws, sadly there are some who just see it that way.

I agree with you, let obama screw them over. I bet Ford won’t be taking bailouts anytime soon.

But if obama can get the power over private business then it won’t matter if they take bail out or not and that is what they are trying for next. If they get it then I don’t know what we can do

Well, at this point, they are only getting control over what businessmen allow them control over. Granted I have heard they have pressured businesses into taking bailout money. I haven't read anything on that level yet.

Of course Obama is a socialist, and like all socialism, can't work without force. The question is, will the American people allow that? Only time will tell.

The only reason the Auto companies got any money at all, which is not even legal, is because of the UAW and the donations it makes to the dems in congress along with Obama.

If the UAW was not donating millions and expecting a payback, the bailouts would have never happened to begin with.

Are you a conspiracy theorist? You can't actually believe institutional money has corrupted our elected officials ability to think honestly and represent us fairly!? Certainly not! What next? You'll be trying to assert your crackpot view that Obama is not going to be able to save us, or that printing enormous amounts of worhtless paper money will only create useless liquidity.
What you conspiracy kooks need is a loan instead of a job. Then you could afford to buy some good science fiction novels and stop worrying about current events. Whoa! I gotta go! The Mothership has arrived. Beam me up, Pelosi.

Banks were pressured by Treasury to take bailout funding even if they did not need (or want) it. The reason was so that those banks with the biggest problems would not become a target from the bailout and result in bank runs.

That is why some banks have already started paying the money back, as they have no desire for government control based on the argument of "well you took the bailout." It also is why some banks were so upset when they got crucified for giving out bonuses after taking the money, when from their point of view they never wanted it to begin with.
