The Forgotten Founders

More name calling from the one losing the debate. You would think one would stop after losing over and over, but no.

It's funny how the debate always seems to be won by the team you're rooting for. That couldn't possibly be a coincidence, could it?

Is it also a coincidence that you never seem to notice when conservatives "name call"?

You don't seem to hesitate engaging in it yourself. But you are always eager to point it out in liberals.

There's a name for that.

But I'll leave it up to your imagination.

Yeah I do name call on occasion, but only in a nice way. But, we are not talking about me, though I do greatly enjoy talking about me almost as much as Mare likes talking about me. But, I digress.

I am referring to this thread specifically. CP and OT have completely discredited your agreements, which has lead you to resort to name calling.

One needs to recognize when they have lost the debate and move on. But, alas some are incapable of accepting their fate.

OMG. You mean brain-geniuses like you and OT will no longer respect my views?

[SARCASM]Oh please... PLEASE reconsider, because in this brief time that I've known you I've glimpsed the awesomeness of you knowledge and wisdom. If only the world could know of your brilliant minds, people would dance in the streets, goodness would flow in abundance, and flowers would fly from everybody's a$$.[/SARCASM]

[SERIOUS]You don't want to listen to me or respect me, you go right ahead. Guess how much respect I have for you. No... go on, try. Well guess what? In reality, it's even a little less than that.[/SERIOUS]

See you at the polls, fools.

I get the impression from your posts that you are quite young, and naive. Probably college age.

Myself, I will soon be 66 years of age, and have seen the changes in the country from when I was a child, and what we had then, and what others have now. I have seen the shift in morals, honor, and ethics.

Here in Oregon where I grew up, I can remember the days when we had no speed limit; the time when a man could earn enough to pay for his home, and support a family, by himself; a time when he could afford to take his family camping, or on vacations; the time when herds of deer 300-400 head strong roamed the countryside; the time when one could keep his house unlocked without fear; when a woman, or a child, could walk the streets without fear. Those are the "good ol days" that the left claims can never be brought back.

25 years ago the "progressives" took control of the State in particular Multnomah, and Lane, counties where the majority of the people live. Since then wages have dropped, businesses have left, the deer are gone, and the cost of living has greatly increased. In the past year we have seen taxes increased; fishing/hunting licenses increased; registration/title/drivers license fees, have doubled, and tripled; tobacco tax quadrupled; property taxes have increased; gas tax increased; etc. At the same time we saw the public employees get their pay raise, and the public employee retirement plan (PERS) guaranteed raise fulfilled.

Recently we voted on what was called Prop 67, and 68, which was touted as necessary to insure the teachers get paid, and PERS paid. Within a month the Governor wanted to pass a 1% sales tax (Oregon does not have a sales tax) and what was the excuse? To guarantee teachers pay. That is how openly unethical these liars are, and it is the same throughout the nation.

Those are the people you, and others like you who lack the ability to think for yourself, have hung your future on. It is destroying the country, and you cannot see it.

I get the impression from your posts that you're a woman going through "the change"... and having a rather rough time with it.

There are drugs that might aid you. Perhaps you can consult your doctor.

Ahhhh what???

Ladies where are you? ZanyZen just dissed you.

Where are the feminists when you really need them?

"On every question of construction, carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed." --Thomas Jefferson

Strict constructionist was Tom.

That is the right way and the only way to successfully run a republic.

While your praise of my intellectual prowess is flattering, I feel that I must correct your initial assumption. I did not say that I would no longer respect YOU. I said that your argument that the founders would support your interpretation of the constitution is no longer deserving of respect. I doubt that such a clarification will be enough for you to justify cooling your childish angry little jets, but it is in my nature to correct misconception regardless of how much positive effect it will have on the individual being corrected.

Your tantrum is now carrying over to a second page. Apparently nobility in defeat is a virtue beyond your capacity for restraint.

CZ, you are entirely within your rights to make your case that the constitution is outdated, and needs to be interpreted loosely, or whatever fool thing it is that you happen to be saying at the moment. The point is that you were arguing that YOUR vision was also the vision of the FOUNDERS. The only weak hold you had on such an argument was the idea that Hamilton agreed with you. It has now been shown conclusively that he did not. So I say again, you can make whichever arguments you like in support of how you think our government SHOULD be run. What you can no longer say and expect to be listened to with any degree of respect as an intellectual, is that the constitution supports your vision for America.

Gee... what part of that do I not understand?

I guess I just don't know how to take a compliment.

Since your asking, the part that you seem to be having difficulty with is the part of the last sentence that you put in bold, but chose not to underline. That particular bit, specifies what it is that will no longer be respected. But hey, don't let my cryptic use of the English language get in your way, by all means continue with your tantrum.

It is quite the assumption on your part that I have been defeated.

It depends on how you define the debate we were having. If you define the debate as encompassing of the entire big government vs small government, and which is superior, then your refusal to acknowledge defeat could be accepted, since that is not what we were debating. Since we were in fact discussing the meaning of specific phrases found within the constitution, I can take the clearly intellectual position that you did in fact lose that debate when it was shown clearly that the only founding father who you might have been able to argue supported your position did in fact oppose it completely. You can make the argument that we SHOULD interpret the constitution a certain way, but you can no longer claim that the way you interpret it, was the way that it was meant to be interpreted. This is true, because you cannot name a single framer of the constitution who agrees with you. Therefore, if the debate was on the subject of the INTENDED MEANING of the constitution, which it was, you lose. Understand?

Instead of taking my comments as one who has been there you had to diss me...

Silly me.

I probably shouldn't be bothered when someone implies that I'm naive, immoral, dishonorable, and unethical, unable to think for myself and destroying the country.

I guess I'm just too sensitive.

Luckily for me you're getting up there in years. Hopefully soon there will be one less crusty old fart telling me how evil liberals are.

I do tire of hearing it.

Yeah I know. I was that way till I grew up. No one could tell me anything. However, if I had listened I could have avoided a lot of pain then, and now.

However, as has often been proven it is the goal of the left wing to indoctrinate the youth into their anti-American propaganda. Our salvation does not lie with the likes of you though, those who care not to learn from others with more experience. They are coming from the homeschooled, and those in Christian, and private schools. Others will come from the families of those enslaved by the government.

It will happen grasshopper. Bet on it.
