I think we should let science explain evolution of life and evolution of the universe until it really hits a brick wall.
First there was nothing and then it exploded. Who can argue with that?

I liked what someone said earlier about how even if there is some kind of supreme being that created the universe, that doesn't mean it has a human form... i mean what if its some enormous electrical cloud that spasms and poof a universe is made hahaha

If it were an electrical cloud then it would be material and it would be a part of the universe. That would mean that the universe created the universe and it would prove that the scientific laws are wrong.

Whatever it is it must not be a part of the natural world. It must be supernatural.

Therefore if you accept the laws of nature then you must accept the existence of the supernatural.

PLC1, I'm 67 years old, and I'm still not sure about anything. I have a few ideas, that I've learned from here and there, but that's all they are, just ideas. I don't think we should expect anything more than that, or take our selves and our opinions that seriously.

I think the older we get, the more we know, but the more we know, the more we realize we don't know.

I don't know a whole lot more than I didn't know when I was a teen.

52 years old, and you're still not sure whether there is a god. After over 100 pages of discussion, no one on this board has proven it one way or the other.

We're asked to believe the completely ridiculous notion that the complex web of life on this planet happened all by itself with no intelligent guidance, or the equally incredible concept of an unseen being who created it all.

I think there is a little agnostic in all of us.

Sounds very much like brane cosmology -- lagboltz' most favorite topic in the world.

The first paragraph of this site sums up pantheism fairly well.

Pantheism is a class of belief, not a specific religion. In the above definition, I think the use of the words God and religion are misleading because they carry along the baggage of other unrelated religions. I don't consider that I believe in God, but I still find a sort of sanctity in existence. The best "liturgy" of pantheism for me doesn't involve a church, but involves studying science. In that sense one "worships" the creation and not the creator.

Thanks for the added research Lag.

It's one of those personal judgment calls I guess. I've tried to look at all sides as fairly as possible... To be honest I have to admit that left me personally leaning agnostic.

C'mon numy. Times are a changing. Bring yourself up to date. Quantum Mechanics can be fun too.

I'm not the one constipated from brane cosmology, am I? As I said, 3 spatial dimensions and 1 time dimension is the way to go. No mental gymnastics required. Complexity almost always lead to more bs.

Every time I say "quantum mechanics" you think I am talking about string theory. I am not talking about string theory. I am talking about quantum mechanics.

String theory is a subset of quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics is not a subset of string theory.

So, my conclusion is that you are the one constipated from brane cosmology. Try to get it out of your head.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did you prefer loop quantum gravity?

You'd rather be loopy than stringy?

Why does anyone have to prove God exists? Do we have to prove that we exist? Each of us has to find God in their own way. A good place to start is to look within yourself and listen to what your inner voice has to say. And before you say this is hokey you might pray on this idea and give it a try. Remember that God IS Love and if you really want him to enter into your life he will. I wish you well on your conquest. ;)

I can live with that idea. MichaelB. People will never agree on the finer details, so why fuss over where to put the commas and puncturation marks?
