Who loves children more? Those who wanted children to have prenatal and childhood healthcare regardless of their families income or those who would say if your family ain't got the money that's your tough luck?

Except that conservatives don't say "tough luck" they just have solutions that don't require government to first confiscate money from productive citizens.

They don't say ANYTHING. They don't do ANYTHING. They were in full power for years! That's their quiet little way of saying TOUGH LUCK! You point people at churches that could handle maybe on a good day maybe 5 or 10% of the poverty need if there wasn't government assistance and to the emergency room, stick your heads back in the sand and say... Have a nice day.

They would rather see half of America living in slums without any education, food or healthcare than to pay a little into the system that makes America a stronger better place overall.

All the money that is presently used by government to meet the needs of those in poverty is coming from the people first. The people have plenty of money to handle the needs of those in need without a government stealing it from them first.

The alleged lack of action on the part of a statists (Bush) is not evidence that conservatives would tell people "tough luck". So you really don't have any basis for your belief that conservatives say tough luck! Could you be any more partisan?

The argument that charity was handling poverty just fine and the government just wanted for no reason to spend billions each years on General Relief, Medicaid, ADC... Food Stamps etc. is absurd on its face.

Aside from the great Depression (which was caused by government) the system worked very well. So go ahead and show us that charity did not handle the problem as well as the current system!!!!! You think that is an absurd proposition so you should have absolutely no problem at all proving your case.

I would add that however well charity works it works exactly as well as the people of the country want it to work. And we do know that the people who give the least are liberals and politicians.
