"For the first time, the Department of Justice is calling for "botanical cannabis" to be reclassified under federal law.

The decision, which the Associated Press first reported early Tuesday afternoon, to move cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III of the U.S. Controlled Substances Act comes eight months after the U.S. Department Of Health And Human Services initially advocated for the change, finding, “The vast majority of individuals who use marijuana are doing so in a manner that does not lead to dangerous outcomes to themselves or others.”

The Biden Administration initiated federal agencies to review the issue in October 2022 – marking the the first time a President has ever made such a request."

That total is about 40 percent more than required to qualify the measure for the 2024 ballot.

"The Republican Party of Florida is calling upon voters to reject Amendment 3, a proposed constitutional initiative legalizing adult-use marijuana sales. Voters will decide on the amendment this November.

Members of the Party’s Executive Board voted to formally oppose the amendment at its quarterly meeting, resolving that it “puts children at risk and endangers Florida’s family-friendly business and tourism climates.”

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has also committed to raising money to assist ‘counter-messaging’ efforts to defeat the amendment.

Speaking at a recent press conference, the Governor claimed that passing Amendment 3 would “reduce Floridians’ quality of life.”

When I first got to the senate 11 years ago, I put forth a major piece of legislation called the Marijuana Justice Act, and I’m not joking I literally got laughed at by senators saying that we shouldn’t do that or it’s a career ender to come out like that,” Senator Booker said. “But now the world has changed in over a decade. The red states and blue states all around America, some partisan issue, have come forward and say, no. This is ridiculous. I’ve had law enforcement officers say ‘Gosh, if there was a drug I’d want to ban it would be alcohol not marijuana.’”

"A key legislative approval in Ohio has cleared a path for adult-use cannabis sales to begin next month.

The Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review issued no objections to proposed regulations on Monday, clearing the way for medical marijuana dispensaries to apply to serve recreational customers, the Associated Press reported.

Under Ohio law, business applications must be available by June 7 and provisional licenses issued by Sept. 7.
The latter date is when all rules overseeing adult-use retail and cultivation must be finalized.

In November, Ohio voters overwhelmingly approved legalizing an adult-use market, becoming the 24th state – along with the District of Columbia – to do so."

Kristi Noem from setting foot on their reservations, bringing the total number of tribal reservations to ban her to seven. running-around-smiley-emoticon[1].gif

The Associated Press reports that tribes are reacting to remarks from the governor, essentially saying that their reservations are havens for drug dealers selling fentanyl and other drugs, and that tribal leaders are allegedly not doing anything about it."

"According to the Arkansas Advocate, dozens of storefronts have opened over the past five years, and an estimated 102,000 medical cannabis patient cardholders have approved.

In total sales, medical cannabis has generated $1.1 Billion since 2019, but, for this year alone, the state collected approximately $68 million (between January through March), and just $45 million between February and March.

The report shows that $31.32 Million was collected in medical cannabis annual revenue in 2019, which jumped to $181.8 Million in 2020, $264.9 Million in 2021, $276.3 Million in 2022, and finally $282 Million in 2023."
