"Last week, a new Super PAC was launched with the sole purpose of halting our progress. This shadowy dark money group has committed to spending well into the six figures on efforts to target and take out elected officials who support legalization. No doubt this group will also be spending big this fall to try and defeat legalization ballot measures across the country."

"Cleveland officials have filed motions to have the municipal court expunge the criminal records of over 4,000 people with low-level (possession of 20 grams or less) marijuana convictions.

Today’s event shows our commitment in the city of Cleveland to advancing criminal justice reform,” Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb said. “But it also gives folks all across the city and across this region
a second chance at getting a good job and the quality of life that they deserve.”

"Most Americans favor the enactment of a broad array of legal reforms specific to marijuana policy, according to nationwide polling data provided by YouGov.com.

Specifically,
six-in-ten Americans say that “marijuana should be made legal in the United States.” Majorities of Democrats (72 percent) and Independents (60 percent) back legalization, while most Republicans (46 percent) do not."

"Lawmakers have advanced legislation (HB 4392) to the Governor’s desk amending state law so that the courts can no longer deny petitioners’ requests to have their criminal records expunged solely because of a marijuana drug test failure.

Under existing law, petitioners seeking to have a qualifying criminal conviction expunged must provide evidence that they have taken a drug test 30 days prior to filing their petition and that they have tested negative for the presence of cannabis or other controlled substances. The pending measure states that a positive test result for cannabis will no longer make a petitioner ineligible for expungement."

"Select retailers will begin selling marijuana and cannabis-infused products to those ages 21 and older on Thursday, April 21, Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy announced late yesterday.

Earlier this week, state regulators gave approval for several existing medical cannabis retailers to begin also providing cannabis to the adult use market.

“I want our legal adult-use cannabis industry to be a
national model,” the Governor said. “And I think we’re there.”

"Tax revenues derived from the licensed retail sale of state-legal, adult-use cannabis products grew by more than 30 percent between 2020 and 2021, totaling over $3.7 Billion last year – according to an analysis provided by the Marijuana Policy Project.

MPP’s figures do not include revenues derived from the sales of medical cannabis products and/or the collection of state-imposed regulatory fees.

Toi Hutchinson, president of MPP, said that the data provides
further evidence that ending cannabis prohibition offers tremendous financial benefits for state governments.”
