That's only one baby step closer. MI & all the northern industrial states have been losing retirees to the south, especially FL for a long time. If those people don't take themselves off the polls when they leave any Dem in control of the local voter rolls is free to put that ballot aside and convey it to a harvester to include in his bundle. It might even be a source for extra income? Again, Dems aren't stupid, they take advantage of the system which is full of holes and has lots of facilitators and lots of legal devils ready, willing and able to step in the way of anyone sticking his nose in to sniff out crooked votes.
As an aside, this 14th Amendment baloney, now including Maine forgets the origin of the law: At the end of the Civil War about 25% of the voters were in the defeated Confederacy. The war was not popular in the other states, and that means the majority in the Senate and House were not guaranteed to stay in the hands of the right people. Ipso facto; change the laws on who can run.
Remember, while it is currently popular to characterize the War Between the States as a war against slavery, it was originally a war over State's Rights verses federal mandates, much like today with Environmental Protection Agency, Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Land Management. The Emancipation Proclamation was used as an incidental tool intended to weaken the south and an after-thought 2 years after the war began. Remember the riots in NYC against conscription? There were several border states that could flop one way or the other before and after the war, so exactly who was going to win the majority in the House & Senate, the maker of laws, could have been up for grabs as early as 1868.
Name one time in the last 234 years that the majority and/or Congress passed a law that didn't favor the incumbents? I'll wait...
