How can the US call itself a christian country?

After all, the bible says that the love of money IS the root of all evil and America DOES love money.

So is America the root of all evil and if so how can it call itself christian?

Jesus was just kidding when He said those things, or... maybe He was just another inbred goatherder idiot--who knows. What we DO know is that loving others as youself, turning the other cheek, returning good for evil, and the camel passing through the eye of a needle comments are not in sync with current political thought and NEVER have been in sync with Christian thought or action.
