Some programs attributed to socialism are good and some are not good. Spending trillions of dollars on 'free' healthcare while the country is drowning in deep debt is not wise.

There lies the root of your deliberate ignorance. You don't even know how it would be funded.

My point is socialist programmes have existed since USA existed. No modern western society has existed without it.
