Probably not much point talking to Igor, I'm finding that many of the Eastern European immigrants are victims of very fundamental Christianity. They represent a throwback to the Christianity of the Dark Ages when Christians were big on punishment and small on compassion, when there was much hatred but very little love. The Igors of the world haven't managed to embrace what Jesus said were the two most important commandments in the
Bible: love God and love others as yourself.

Why immigrants from Eastern Europe only?How about fundamental American True Calvinist Baptists who still submit to KJV Bible and laws of The Puritans in order to obey God?Even in old America until 1960s when The Left started taking over,America had a part of church infulence in her daily life in spite the separation of church and state.

It upsets me as well, but I have two fundie brothers and have learned over the years that their fear is too great for them to learn. They are so afraid of God's punishment that they adhere insanely to the word of the Bible instead of its good intent. The Bible is supposed to be a love letter to people from God, assuring them of His love, but too many people have added things to it in order to control others that His message is often lost.

I pity my brothers, they are so afraid that they can't love me for who I am, they have to condemn me. It's sad.

I didn't say ONLY Eastern Europeans. I used them as an example due to my own experiences with them. There are some dreadful Bible-beaters in this country too, but I couldn't list all of them in one post.

It's just beyond me to believe that the Creator of the Universe would command people to bake bread with their own feces and then eat it in public as a way of shaming them, but that's in the Bible too. And slavery, and the selling of children, and the beating of slaves to death, etc, there's just too much human failing in the Old Testament god for me to give him any credit or credulity.

God gave men free will.

Men can choose to live a decent life or not. And heaven and hell are human concepts. We are all born with the potential for good and evil. The side we "feed" the most will grow and win.

Judging your fellow men, and damning them to hell because they don't follow manmade dogmas is choosing evil.
