Well many in the Bush admin have been pushing to close it down, however, it never was for that sole reason. Obama seems to have not answered the question and closed it anyway.

Obama said he would listen to all the options before making calls on stuff like this, he did not do that. He could not have listened to all his advisors and the people running gitmo. he promised the freaked out far left he would do this and he did it reguardless of what is right or safe. then he sends his press secretary out to say "The President feels he made America safer by doing this" if obama really thinks that he should let them all go so we can be super duper safer.

Just for saying that, we should jail you with no trail...you know since you support that. Hell we dont even need to charge you.

Lawyers are for all people not just the innocent. Sad how many slow people dont get that simple concept. What is a system of law if you just say, well only innocent people get fair trials....

Bush and the rest of his cronies know that those detained cannot be convicted of anything because there is no credible evidence against them.

Bush couldn't admit this but Obama is not bound by this hideous need to protect his own standing at the cost of thousands of innocent people's liberty and human rights.

I know you can't countenance the possibility that Bush got anything wrong but he did lie about WMD you know to get people like you, NoObama backing a war against a non-aggressing nation.

Let's first remember that the ENTIRE PREMISE of our nation's foundation rests upon "Innocent until proven guilty"...and that that proving has to go through due process to keep corrupt abusers of power like Cheney's hand-selected kangaroo intelligence group (a cloistered subsector of the CIA) from simply deeming someone guilty because they interfered with a more nefarious uberplan. The Magna Charta was the birth of our nation.

You see, King George had the same habit of kangaroo justice. So much so that his flagrant disrespect for justice was legendary. So despised was he that our forefathers took great pains to construct a document for our founding that would ensure that King George's reign, in another man's body, would never happen again. You may have heard of that document...it's called "The Constitution". A hecka lot of people have fought, bled, been maimed and died for that little document, that ideal, you and your buddies have such little regard for.

Anyone who promotes circumvention of the Constitution also promotes treason. The abuses heaped upon the US Constitution, the very core of our Foundation, by the recent administration are subject to be tried under the laws of treason as a domestic rebellion that nearly did topple our government...the jury is still out on whether or not we can recover economically from the fiscal disaster that is the illegal Iraq war.

So...any one of you promoting the circumvention of our foundation, the Constitution, stand with your kind and prepare yourselves to go through due process of Law for the crimes of treason against these United States of America.

Of course they wont be allowed to "walk the streets" what is going to happen, is that over the next year, all of the approx. 250 detainees there will have thier case reviewed and then decided on through a case by case process.
If they can be tried in American courts, they could be released to the judicial system in the country where they came from, or another appropriate third country.

of course theyre not. i was just saying that people shouldnt be criticized for wanting to know where the prisoners will go because its not as cut and dry as someone was making it out to be because its not a bill liek someone said. just saying theres nothing wrong with asking questions!

So in a time of war, you find a person in an enemy bunker, or for example, an Al Qaeda training camp, we're supposed to put them on trial?

How would you prosecute them? Do you think we have investigators in Afghanistan with our troops, just in case we need to have a trial on some of our captured combatants?

Essentially you are going to let terrorist go with this line of thinking. By the way, that's exactly what has already happened, and people died because of it. Are you ready to accept the blame for your part in allowing terrorist free to kill again? Because people with your thinking have done just that.

During WWII. President FDR (whom Obama is being compared to by the libs) had "secret miliatary tribunals" of german soldiers that were plotting to blow up infrastructre here in the U.S. They were captured , tried by the military.. secretly, and then executed.

At least the democratic president had the balls to stand up for America then.

What about when we dropped the bombs on Japan. Again, democratic president.

Protecting America was the priority. Not cowing to all the peace-loving groups and humanitarian groups.

The only reason those kinds of groups exist or we can even express our views, on this forum is because of the military.

Yes, this is about terrorists and closing Gitmo. Anyone who abets a terrorist is themselves a terrorist. And the trials will sort that out after Gitmo is closed.

Sometimes they speak american english with a drawl, were born and raised in the US but for reasons of money and profiteering have seen fit to finanically and logistically aide and abet enemies of the USA. Like Prescott Bush did in WWII and what Dubya likely has done with his own ties to Al Qaida...evidenced by the article from Rense, illustrating his ties with the Bin Ladens and their financers..

In order to get to the bottom of all that we need to first close Gitmo, which we will do, and then try the case against Bushco. It's all inter-related. I'm sure you want to see US justice dragnet ALL the terrorists, don't you? Equal opportunity for all races, creeds and nationalities..
