When was pot first made illegal? And did these war protesters get squashed in the majority of other countries in the world that made pot illegal?

does it matter? I am sure many nations have there own reasons for it. Just like many who don't ban it have theres. I can only speak to the motivation of US Policy. Maybe alot of them banned it becuse the US told them to, and they wanted to please us? Some ban booze as well, who knows.

as for when , I am not sure of he date, but it was under Nixon that the war on drugs started, and real prosecution for pot started. I know LSD was legal until into the 60's, I believe Pot was made Illegal at the same time.

also on the other nations issue, it should also be noted that some its against the law, but they don't care at all about it, and others they may cut your head off....so just having a law, does not mean its the same.
