I agree with what you said, but I think you need to give some of the credit not so much to the established Americans, but to the immigrants who, in spite of the difficulties placed in front of them, (sometime major difficulties, such as prejudice) managed to integrate by at least the second generations!

Interesting that you mention this as they strived to become part of the melting pot by adopting the social mores.

I have been married to the same man long enough to KNOW that love doesn't depend solely on sex. Sex is a nice part of it, but it is NOT the most important part.

But if one person happen to fall in love with another person, and those two people happen to have the same "gadget" between their legs. . .LOVE is not limited to what can be done with that "gadget!"

It is contracted through sharing needles, through blood transfusions, and through heterosexual sex!

When I was working with AIDS patients, at a time when they were STILL dying with AIDS (before AIDS became a "manageable life long illness,") I had just as many heterosexuals clients who contracted AIDS through sharing needles, sex with unknown bi sexuals, blood transfusions, and prostitutions, as I did gay clients.

If you believe that the gay community doesn't participate positively in the economic and social development of our country, you are living in the boonies! Many of the most talented, the smartest people in this countries are gay! Gay people are a HUGE economic power in this country!

Because quality (just like God) doesn't discriminate!

I hate it to break it to you but there is no reason to believe that God (the One that actually exists, not the God of your feelings and personal preferences) is overly concerned with romantic love.

God's love is a love of the will -- agape, not eros. It is the love to which we're all called: the willful love that loves despite the absence of a reason to do so: the love of an infinitely powerful God who would sacrifice His own son for the benefit of a species of rebellious, degenerate snots He created purely out of grace, and who even know continue in their rebellion against His legitimate sovereignty. Not the kind of "love" exhibited by drunken college students at a frat party.

Romantic love is good, but only when understood in light of the telos to which it points: the creation and raising of children in a family environment.

I am an heterosexual woman, who believe that gay people have as much right, both in front of God and in front of the State, as I do.

I do not feel threatened by gay marriage, I do not feel I am going to contract HIV from a gay man, and I do not feel that God is judging people's sexuality as much as their capacity for love, understanding, and acceptance.

I believe that, morality is an innate quality that is either further developped or thwarted along one's life.

Morality is only VERY losely related to religion, and only because many religious people have a tendency to "learn" morality (or the "flavor" of morality that is acceptable in their "flavor" of religion) in their religious upbringing.

But in some case, the religious dogmas go against morality.

This is my thinking, I do not believe it is the ONLY way to think,I do not try to make "converts" to my way of thinking, but I feel deeply at peace with my way of thinking.

Now, if you consider that hypocrisy. . .that's okay with me! It doesn't take anything away from what I believe and from my peace of mind!
