Libertarians need to do like the Tea Party did. Get local involvement, send libertarians to congress and then eventually when they do put one up for the presidency they will have a much better chance.
Unfortunately right now a vote for Gary Johnson is just a vote for Obama, not a risk worth taking. I am not saying Romney is the answer to all of our problems but he is a 100% better than Obama. When a real libertarian has a real shot, they will have my vote. But I can’t risk being a part of how Obama gets reelected.
We would have never had to suffer the Clinton years if Ross Perot wasn’t on the ballot. And some dems would argue if Ralf Nader wasn’t on the ballot we would not have had Bush. Ron Paul is a wash, he got a little of both.
I listened to an interview with Gary Johnson’s running mate, he encouraged people to vote for him because if they could get at least 5% of the vote then next time around they would have a better chance at being included in the debates exc. Even his running mate is hoping at best to get 5% and that is just so they can be in the debates next time around.
How about voting for the person who has an actual chance of winning who best meets your personal values and then actively working for the next 4 years to make sure 3d party people have a right to participate in the debates?
agreedMost of the TEA Party are libertarians (whether they realize it or not).
agreed
But most of them probably do not realize it and with some effort they would. They don't right now, not in this election. More time should have been taken to point this out. 3-4 weeks to election day isn't really the time. Johnson can't win, he probably can't even get the 5% he is hoping for. Work at building a strong backing then try again in 4 years to beat Hillary.... that is assuming obama throwing her under the bus wont hurt her chances
I agree 100%The problem with the LP is centered on their inability to communicate whoi they are and what they believe. And they have a few stances that either refuse to embrace reality (isolationism or or are not likely to garner support 9illegal drugs, open borders).
The TEA Party avoided this and are doing quite well.
Well .... OK
As Pandora mentioned ...
You can vote for Romney
Or, you can vote for Obama
Or, you can vote for Johnson which is really just a vote for Obama
Either way you get to vote for Romney or Obama ... the only real choice you have is how you go about doing it.
A vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Gary Johnson period!
Look All I'm hearing out of this whole conversation is nothing more then the same partisan rhetoric that is currently dividing this country.
You are mistaken. And your irrationality is not much different than the Obamamaniacs and the very reason myself and many others do not support the LP.
This is true, but again, there is no other viable option on the table for this presidential election. And all normal thinking Americans know this! The partisan rhetoric is coming solely from the very party that you will support by voting outside of the status quo in this particular election.
I'm acting irrational. Really?!?
And what constitutes a normal thinking American?!?
Is it someone who keeps the status quo going like you have implied? I mean I thought the Democratic process applied to everyone but I guess by your logic it only applies to Democrats and Republicans.
I'm acting irrational.Let me ask you a question? How long has the Tea Party been around? A couple of years? I mean with all due respect you guys act like you've been around the block more then once.
Libertarians have been around for a very long time but the only difference between our tow groups is that you guys choose to join ranks with the Republicans with the notion of destroying it form with in.
Obamamaniacs is the best argument you can bring to the discussion?!? People disagree and the that's the American way and I for one disagree with both parties because if you really believe in Liberty then you shouldn't have to label yourself to be a part of the democratic process.
