I whole heartedly support them having the right to having a news channel

and the news broadcasters are no more bias than anyone, less I would say.

But when you get into seah hannity and bill o well that is differnt, they are not broadcasting the news, they are like keith olberman, giving you their opinion and both are extreme.

finally some damn sence.. really has everyone gone MAD?!?! you people act like these people REALLY represent you.. they don;t give a damn other then to spout their own twisted vile conviening crap upon the face of america.. not a single one is a stand up states-man.. not a single one represents more then a fickle mob clinging to an idea unfounded upon truth and logic. And thats BOTH sides.. everyone single republican HATES McCain .. yet your to weak to do ANYTHING about it. Again standing on princples unfounded with any form of sensablie logic.

Honestly how many more posts do i have to read? about how hates who more? about debates that NEVER happen.. about things that DO not matter because no one is moving beyond a board.. or a friend or a chat with a neighbor about the IMPORTANT issues.

I'm not gonna vote for a flip-flopper.. or a man who will ONLY make the government an even larger enitity then it already is. While I have gained a better understanding of politics in general.. its obvious both parties are stunting peoples growth for whats really possible and what really should be considered the POTUS.

I think we should fund some study, and test the brains of the differnt political types.

find a group of hard core libs and another group of mods, who cant really make up their minds of what they beleive or want
then another group of ultra conservatives

then do brain scans and various tests to find out why we are like we are. I would really like to know

So did aliens eat my brain away because I was as much of a lib as anyone could be until I started reading for myself and not just listening to CNN and my teachers. It came slow at first and I dont know what day I could look back and say this was the change but one day I did look back and i was not that same girl anymore.

sure I do too


I know people who could be wealthy but the drink and gamble the money away

I know some who never bother trying hard to advance and stay in low paying jobs but work very hard

I know there are rich people who are rich off the backs of others

and I know people like my great great grandfather who sacrificed every single thing he had, slept outside went without and when ever he got a dime to his name he saved it till he could get enough for wheat fields, he left it to his son, who left it to his three kids, one of them my grandmother. each generation did what he did, the never had a whole lot because they kept putting it back into crops. they get soaked, soaked tax wise like I never knew any normal american could.

Another friend of mine went without and sacrificed and bought a motel, she worked it her self hiring very little help but she also was soaked, I just couldnt believe what they made her pay in taxes compared to others.

but the left does not think that is wrong, the left wants them to pay more, sacrifice more make more so they can pay more.

Class envy is wrong, envy in any fashion is wrong, how can anyone not see that. I dont know, but I know there was a time when I thought the same way, I dont know how I changed... I guess from seeing them give everything they had and really end up with very little because of the tax burdon to them.

My one friend finally sold her motel, it wasnt worth working that hard to really get not much out of it.

Its sad, the American dream seems to be more like a nightmare

Um... I got lost on the point of this post too. I am guessing there was an instant topic change that was not made clear. We were discussing the media and Fox, and so on. If I'm reading this right, you are commenting on general politics and candidates?

If so, let me preface this by saying this isn't intended as an insult, but... dude.. welcome to modern politics. The left in our country, and a good portion of the right, are ignorant voters. Not stupid... just ignorant.

Most people don't have time in their busy daily lives to go do an in depth study of socialized health care, or global warming, or nuclear power, or how the oil market works. I've met people in the past week that don't know what either candidate stands on any issue whatsoever.

Here is my point. When the majority of the voting public doesn't know much about any of the topics, it is a natural outcome that the debates will degenerate to "well I don't like him, he sucks" and similar deep comments that you see posted here.

This is the whole reason why our founding fathers setup elections to work a specific way. Only wealthy business owners, people that have direct invested interest in the country, vote. They vote at the state level for representatives. Those representatives, who setup the electoral college, vote for who will be president. This is the Constitutional method of elections, where the informed invested people vote on our elected officials.

Now with anyone voting, on even the highest government position, without being even remotely informed about any topic... In many ways it's nothing more than an image campaign. Think about it, we had Puerto Rico, that isn't even a state, not even American citizen, nearly determine who would be the Democrats presidential candidate. Non-invested, non-informed people, determining who leads our country?

I'll never forget Al Gore kissing his wife, and people coming out of the wood work saying that event alone convinced them to vote for Al Gore. No issues... no stances... no positions on anything of substance... he kissed her, that's good enough to be president.

No that's a cop-out I think. Because working hard is a relative term. Plus, working hard does not always equal wealth, which is a relative term itself.

I worked at a factory once. It was hard work. However, the work being hard is not the only factor. Anyone could do that job. When anyone can do a job, you can't expect to get paid a ton just because "it's hard work".

Also, working hard is not as limited a concept as 'putting in 50 hours a week' or 'sweating physical activity'. Sometimes working hard is putting in the time to learn something new to move up from where you are.

For example Dave Thomas. He started out as an employee of a restaurant. Then a manager of a KFC. Then he saved his money and invested in his own restaurant. Then he built up Wendy's, and added a drive-thru, opened another location, then incorporated and when he finely retired, he was a multi-millionaire.

Now at each point, he could have stopped and simply 'worked hard' at what he was doing, putting no effort into advancing. And he would not have been a millionaire, but he would have worked very hard.

I too, know some poor people who work very hard. But they don't advance, they just sit in the position they are in. You can work very hard at cutting grass and doing odd jobs, but if you don't invest in improving the situation, you are still going to be doing odd jobs and cutting grass the rest of your life.

Just so you know, there is nothing wrong with doing that. But people who do advance, people who do put in the effort to move up, people who are successful in life, should not be punished with taxes for being so.
