Yes. Thats how group insurance works.

Imagine the howling that would ensure from the other 90% if they were forced to pick up the tab ? They howl enough as their own rates increase.

Sucks to be that 10% though. I can't believe that if a healthy person drops their insurance then the insurance companies pass it on to the individuals who fall under that 10%. But it's like you said if they did the other 90% like that there would be hell to pay...

Yes sucks to be that 10% but it also suck to be in some other group that makes up a portion of that othe 90% ot Anthem's business who has a bad year in terms of the health of the people in there and they get a big old rate increase the following year. And then most often the company drops Anthem and offers something else to avoid the bump to their employees. Then the employees complain that they no longer have Anthem not realizing the reason for it.

Its a convoluted business and no body is ever happy.
