Can you point out where the bill under consideration provides for panels that can deny treatment?
The name of the commitee is the Health Benefits Advisory Committee. It is named in several places in the bill as well as on page 30 and section 123. It will use as criteria for denying treatments "outcome measures", a persons ranking based on a point scale which is influenced by age.
If the committe cannot deny treatments than any and all treatments including voodoo will be approved? Are you going to argue that those in the public plan will be allowed to ask their doctor to perform ANY procedure and have the state pay for it? Isn't one of the other "myths" that abortion will be paid for? If not then clearly the state will be denying some treatments. Someone has to deny crazy treatments. Medicare and Medicaid deny treatments all the time, and often it is normal treatments. I just don't want it to be an authoritative committe or a Health Choices Commissioner. Government should not have that kind of power and it is unconstitutional.
