1. NUUK, Greenland/WASHINGTON March 28 (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Friday accused Denmark of not doing a good job keeping Greenland safe and suggested the United States would better protect the semi-autonomous Danish territory that President Donald Trump has pressed to take over.....
Vance's sharp attacks against Denmark - a longtime U.S. ally and NATO member - offered another example of the little regard the Trump administration holds for traditional U.S. alliances....
Greenland's new prime minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, said the U.S. visit signalled a "lack of respect," while Danish leaders expressed their commitment to Greenland....
Trump said Greenland's waterways have "Chinese and Russian ships all over the place" and the United States will not rely on Denmark or anybody else to handle the situation....
Polls have shown that nearly all Greenlanders oppose becoming part of the United States. Anti-American protesters, some wearing "Make America Go Away" caps and holding "Yankees Go Home" banners, have staged some of the largest demonstrations ever seen in Greenland.
On Thursday, residents in Nuuk planted Greenlandic flags in the snow and a cardboard sign in English that said "Our Land. Our Future"....

The US VP's uninvited visit to Greenland is a trespass on Greenland's territory and an infringement on the sovereignty of Greenland and Denmark.
It is reminiscent of the 19th-century English fairy tale of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", in which the three bears found a cute pretty girl sleeping in Baby Bear’s bed. However, in the US-Greenland version of the fairy tale, the three bears found a hairy man (who looked like a wanted man in a spaghetti western movie) in Father Bear's bed.
In the popular version of the tale, Goldilocks woke up, climbed out of the window, and was never seen again. Unfortunately for the Greenlanders, the hairy man will come again and again to choose the most comfortable bed to sleep in. It can't be ruled out that his Big Boss may even turn up one fine day to hold a big party there.
The Greenlanders may get so fed up with their uninvited visits or trespasses, they may tell the shameless trespassers: "Okay, you can take over our country, but we also want to take over your country in exchange. As the saying goes, "Fair exchange is no robbery!"
