Trumps first budget

You could have a discussion of the causes and effects of the Civil war, sure. The Emancipation Proclamation is still historical fact.

And, you could teach all of the other scientific theories about how life forms are what they are, which is.... is... what again?
The EP freed slaves in another country. Explicitly excluded those in the country he was president of.

no, are you ?
you dispute what the Son of God said ?
you dispute his stated interest ?
I realize the RCC gets a lot wrong but not these two points so dont blame your church because you dont like something.

I dispute your INTERPRETATION of what MEN SAID that the ALLEGED SON of GOD stated. . .2000 years ago, in a dead language, to people who didn't start writing down "his" words until almost one generation later!

Any decent person (and obviously I believe that Jesus Christ was a decent person, as he "reportedly" acted as such) would care about the way the government of his/her time treats its people, especially its most vulnerable people!

But this may be a foreign concept to you!

That's funny since you repeated it twice with no reference to it being a joke. Seems like backtracking is your favorite way to travel.
Martin Sheen Just Convinced His City To Defy
http://occupydemocrats.com/
President Donald Trump has been trumped by Martin Sheen in one of America’s wealthiest communities. Just thought you would like to know.. lol

The upscale city of Malibu, California officially declared itself a sanctuary city last week in response to longtime resident Martin Sheen’s impassioned plea last December before the city council. Sheen seemed to have summoned his inner President Bartlet in his efforts to convince the city government to act.

President Bartlet, of course, is the fictional character Sheen played on Aaron Sorkin’s acclaimed TV series the West Wing (1999-2006).

Malibu is 92% white, but many of its wealthy residents depend on minority workers to care for their homes, children, stores and provide a wide range of other services. This declaration is largely an effort to offer a level of comfort to the workers, some of whom are in the U.S. illegally.

The resolution was introduced by Malibu Councilwoman Laura Rosenthal after she heard Sheen’s plea:

“When I reached to to some of the people at the schools and other people in the community, they told me people are scared,” Rosenthal told the Los Angeles Times. “That’s people coming into Malibu who may be undocumented. I wanted to send a clear message that we are here for you.”

Most of the other 400 or so sanctuary cities have large Hispanic populations, like Santa Ana and San Francisco. Malibu has about six percent Hispanic residents, but many workers commute tot he city each day to work.

This is not the first time that Sheen has led a fight to make Malibu a sanctuary city. Back in 1989, Sheen held the post of honorary Mayor of Malibu. At that time he helped pass a resolution making Malibu a sanctuary for “aliens and homeless,” as well a nuclear-free zone.

Sheen, who is 76-years-old, has a long history of activism, He has been arrested at least 66 times for civil disobedience over the years and has had a special place in his heart for Hispanics. His real name is Ramon Estevez, and he has never changed his last name legally. His parents were both immigrants. His father was from Spain and his mother was from Ireland.

Two of his sons are well-known actors. Emilio Estevez has kept the family name while his son Carlos changed his name to Charlie Sheen.

A 35-year-old gardener originally from Guatemala who commutes to work in Malibu each day told the L.A. Times he was thankful for Malibu’s new resolution: “I feel more safe. We can work without being worried. Who is going to take care of my kids if they deport me? What’s going to happen to them?”

He now has President Bartlet on his side.

Point being what Grumpy? That because he supports a sanctuary city he is somehow worse then a lying, adulterous, thieving, coward? His sons are somehow worse then a porno queen?

He knew full well what government does to people and it hasn't changed. At all. If you want to be your brothers keeper YOU go right ahead and so will I but you know he addressed people with his teaching, not government. He was quite careful about that.

You said,,But you think the Sheen family is representative of "liberal" America. You are a joke. Do you think their not..But that's beside the point, your attitude and arrogance is just unbelievable ..
Your one sick puppy..

The more I dig into these cuts, the better Trump and his people look ..A Washington Post story today about one of President Trump’s budget cuts reflects what can be called victim journalism. The story focuses on the proposed ending of federal funding for the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). The reporter presents an interesting narrative about some ARC beneficiaries, but does not provide the balance needed to judge the overall value of the program.

The story presents individuals in Appalachia as victims, and federal money as the only savior. It does not focus on personal responsibility, local government policies, or federal program failures. The reporter does not mention any studies examining the ARC’s overall effectiveness, or whether auditors have done a benefit-cost analysis to see whether the program’s benefits outweigh the costs.

However, the main problem with the Post story is a lack of appreciation for the federal structure of American government. Statements like this bewilder me: “The federal funding [for ARC] often goes toward repairing essential services rural towns cannot afford on their own, such as fixing broken sewer systems…”

Sewer systems are indeed an essential local service. As such, they should receive a high priority in state and local budgets. If sewers in Appalachia are not being fixed, then state and local governments are failing at a core responsibility. Reporters should ask why that is.

The ARC sprinkles about $150 million a year across 13 states, from New York to Mississippi. Combined state and local spending in those states (excluding federally funded spending) is more than $800 billion a year. So the supposedly crucial ARC spending represents less than 0.02 percent of the region’s own government spending. If the ARC were eliminated, those governments could easily fill the small void with their own money.

No Grumpy, you are just one ignorant asshole trying to be something you are not. If you want to use the Sheen family, then lets use the Bush family for the right. Alcohol problems with Bush 43, and his daughters with the death of ones ex-boyfriend. Drug problems with Jeb, and his daughter. How about Bush's dealing with the Texas Ranger baseball team, and how he made millions while screwing the residents of Texas as governor.

Give it up fool.

And when the people refuse to do as He commanded then what? Should government step aside, and let the poor starve? I know that is your wish, however, I do not think it was the wish of Jesus. Christ taught that you should honor the government, and respect it plus obey it. Why did that not apply when Obama was President, and yet you think it should apply now?

As to caring for people, do you give 10% of your income to the poor every week, month, or whenever? Actually, Christ said to gibe all of it after first providing for your family. Do you?

You didn't respect Gods word when you voted for Trump, why would one expect you to now?

The point is that
a. there is no role for the federal government in education here. all education spending, the actual teaching kids part, is state and local.
b. what the feds are trying to control has nothing to do with education. therefore no value in spending the money.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury." A
It may be true that the American Federal Government dose not spend directly on education but it has control of income tax and some of this is given to the states to spend on education
