In most cases torture seems to just be a sadistic way to extract revenge versus actually trying to gather information.

And how is that? What is the point of using torture?
Is there a living soul here that thinks the media did not over dramatacize the adolescent happenings at Gitmo? In reality, torture is case by case used more today than ever before. A lot of westerners like to talk about the world as one body and all that blather but themselves are narrowminded and live in a bubble about how people are and behave throughout the world.

Exactly. I would think that we would take the moral high ground on this, rather than get into some war of reciprocity regarding the treatment of captured soldiers.
