Is there a living soul here that thinks the media did not over dramatacize the adolescent happenings at Gitmo? In reality, torture is case by case used more today than ever before. There is a huge difference in making an example of a village for everyone to see versus physically abusing a prisoner in a cell away from everyone else.

Exactly. I would think that we would take the moral high ground on this, rather than get into some war of reciprocity regarding the treatment of captured soldiers.

The Geneva convention was really intended for the western world. Do you really think outside nations are going to follow it?

If those actions had been taken against American soldiers being held by a foreign entity our government would be calling it torture. It is wrong regardless of who does it. I was briefed yearly by the Air Force on what was acceptable, what wasn't and what to expect if captured. Wrong is wrong.

It doesn't matter. We signed it. Let's live up to our word. What could possibly be a positive for punitive torturing someone?
