God is omniscient and therefore knew long before Adam was created what would happen.
Humans are not physically designed to live forever. Sickness is the result of parasitic organisms using human bodies to reproduce themselves.

Of course, there never was an Adam, a Garden of Eden or (heh. heh) talking snakes. The Biblical "God" character is clearly an asshole. invented by priests to keep their high status cushy jobs.
