America has multiple value systems. It is not only Liberals that are trying to protect those principles, but conservatives too.
This is quite true, but also in this truth, it is also quite evident that while they are PROTECTING our rights, it is only temporary and served for a short amount of time. In order to be effective, you must worry about the future, and the present. In this sense, Conservatives are the ones that will eventually lead to our downfall. They are in favor of giving their leader more power--this will inevitably, and undeniably lead to a totalitarian state, as history has shown us. Look at how Hitler came about, he was a Right-Wing leader, who came to Power when the masses thought they needed a strong, steadfast leader to get them out of their massive depression. (Remember, at the time, the German currency was almost a trillionth of what is was years earlier)
The founders of America beleived in Capitalism (along with a small government), it was one of their strongest ideas. When was the last time you heard a liberal group promote the idea of a free market. Hardly, if ever!
True. But--Capitalism, laissez faire specifically, is a totally Liberal ideology. Adam Smith anyone? He also theorized on individual's and women's rights. His views were extremely radical for his time, and in the present, are now considered default, and are even embraced by Conservatives.
Did Adam Smith every forsee the many negatives that would come out of Capitalism? Obviously--which is why many Liberals today are Socialists and Communists--they realized that Capitalism and Democracy as we know are not what are originally framed in the Constitution. Consumers rights are almost paramount, while Individual's rights are left in the dust. If Capitalism worked as it was once theorized, I myself would be a Capitalist, I like being able to hold private property and freely buy and sell my unused junk, but I don't like the greed and corruption that go along with it. Conservatives fail to see this--which is why they are predominantly capitalists, whereas 200 years ago, they were Monarchists.
