"Police in Michigan are investigating, after an irate reader of the Port Huron Times-Herald reportedly called in a threat to the newspaper after it criticized a local House representative's participation in the anti-health reform Tea Party protest two weeks ago.

"A 60-year-old Port Huron woman threatened to take a gun to the newspaper and 'do what they did at Fort Hood,' according to police," the Times-Herald reported on Tuesday.

The newspaper says the woman's alleged threat came over an editorial that ran last week which described US House Rep. Candice Miller's participation in the anti-health reform protest as "shameful." Miller, a Republican who represents Michigan's 10th district, reportedly made herself very visible during the November 5 protest on Capitol Hill, organized by Republican firebrand Michele Bachmann."

I don't usually agree with you but I thought you'd stop short of advocating the killing of Americans just because they don't vote your way.

If blood has to be spilled to water the tree of liberty because, "The freedom to make a fortune on the stock exchange has been made to sound more alluring than freedom of speech.” then I say that's a cause worth dieing for.

I don't advocate it at this point. Things would have to get a whole lot worse. It happened during the American Revolution and I think things should be about that bad again before we take up arms.

But I recognize that it will come to that sooner than I would care for.

if a tea bagger shoots someone at a protest, will that be enough yet? or will they have to make sure to get a head shot maybe? Wounding will not be enough to really make the right look and say, bad

Then you would surely be delusional. I would never kill nor advocate the killing of anyone based on how they vote.

I would advocate killing a Hitler, or a Stalin or even a different politician if they nullified their authority to lead by acting in similar ways. I would advocate that a process of some sort be followed so that it was not vigilantism. That process would include exhausting other means first.

Would you advocate permitting such a leader to continue?

It is a threat and it is pretty feeble and shows most that the worst example that can be found is some old lady who threatens to get a gun. The police should follow it up in whatever way is warranted but it is still pretty feeble.
