Look folks , if we allow admitted leftist to "brand" Sarah Palin you will get a menu of their tired lies, distortions , and far leftist trash. Look what Obama did to our Supreme Court at the "State of our Union" mess. He used a cowardly attack on them, chosing a venue where they could not defend themselves.

I know, just as you seem to love to "brand" the President with any number of absurd labels, I can provide direct evidence to the socialist policies that Sarah encacted when she was Governor of my home state. Instead you drop off topic and talk about Obama...how very Palin of you.

As for me I do not want Sarah Palin to be a "normal republican" we need to purge these leftist republicans out of our politics just as me must do the same to "nutty" leftist and other enemies of America.Mrs Palin is a breath of fresh air , do not allow the evil doers to spread their venom as usual.

Then to take a large amount of that increase in revenue to spend money to compete for a natural gas pipeline with private industry? Then she took another big portion of those revenues and handed every man woman and child $1,200. This is on top of the Permanent Fund.
So for those of you in the lower 48 whose gas prices are just a little bit higher because Sarah raised taxes, should ultimately know this...your price at the pump, got me a new flatscreen TV.

Was she also wrong for raising taxes on oil companies that is ultimately reflected at your pump? Was she wrong to spend public money to compete directly with private enterprise?

Actually, I think you are spot on. I dont say this much when it comes to your views, but either way. One must understand the circumstances in which she climbed to prominance in Alaska back in 06. I have said before I liked the Sarah of 07 and spring of 08. It was when the legislative session closed that the situation changed for Alaska.

I would encourage anyone who is actually interested in her time in power to examine the record and read the articles from the local media and they will see that Sarah played it cool, and didnt bring hot button national issues into the dialogue. As a matter of fact avoided such questions openly kinda like she did in the VP debate.

When the oil companies were making billions in profits and Sarah decided it was time to not only collect revenue on the oil production, but to also tax thier profits made in state known as ACES(Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share)
In Alaska it was said at the time that this was equivalent to "nationalizing" the Alaska oil industry.

For the most part though in her time as Governor she was nearly the polar opposite to what one who defines themselves as a conservative would be among the GOP.

A veto is not control of congress. Reagan has the power of the executive branch at his disposal but support from Congress was intermittant at best. Obama bowing to foreign leaders is a sign of submission, their subjects bow to them, not their equals, not their betters. Now perhaps you think the President of the United States is not a position that's equal to or better than King of Saudi Arabia, that would not surprise me.

Try taking a reading comprehension class, I said the olive branch to terrorists and the French battle flag at Iran. Obama is finally getting tougher with Iran and for that, I give him the full credit he deserves, he made a wise decision, I just hope he sticks to it. Obama did offer the Taliban jobs, positions of power and other concessions in Afghanistan and Iraq if they would give up Jihad, they responded with one of the largest, most coordinated strikes ever.

I am from the USA but I left so that my children wouldn't have to grow up listening to the jingoistic fundamentalist claptrap that seems to be the received view in the US.

The US claims to be free etc but it is actually one of the most indoctrinated countries in the world.

From WW2 until ten years ago the bogey man was Communists and now it is Muslims.

The hatred, the aggression, the discrimination and the general oppression that this engenders makes me want to ensure that my children grow up elsehwere.

My eyes were really opened after 9/11 when it was plain to see that the Government's explanation of what happened just could not be accurate at so many levels that they had to be lying.

Then you start looking at everything else and you feel ashamed for ever having believed it. But sadly most people in the US do seem to think that it is fine to go round the world bombing innocent people - or even that it is god's will.

I have spent time in Australia and the UK and before you start I know they have their problems too.

You must not pay very close attention to US politics, the left is very critical of our country because it's not collectivist enough for their liking. The Right is also very critical of our country, because we think the country has become too collectivist. Both sides have serious complaints regarding our government.

I think you're just mad that the American people aren't a bunch of 9/11 troofers, who push for the total collapse of America, while demanding a socialist revolution.

I started this thread to discuss Sarah Palin and how some on the RIGHT....(not the Left) are calling her a RINO for supporting McCain. If conservatives want to make a come back then they have to sort out their indifference between them selves because right now as it's looking the Republicans are looking to make a huge comeback in this election cycle but from what I see the Tea Party movement is trying to attach a lit nest test to each Republican candidate. If anyone was paying attention to the winter meeting in Hawaii and what happened out there, then we're all going to have a pre-view of what is to come in November. All I can say to the conservatives on this board is be careful what you wish for and the Independents are WATCHING and they will be voting....
