Running a government like a business is a terrible idea.
The purpose of a business is to MAKE A PROFIT.
The purpose of a government should be to provide essential services to the citizens.
Every business considers success to be MAKING THE BUSINESS BIGGER.
Fools who claim that a government should be run like a business are always saying that they want to make government SMALLER.
Grover Norquest a favorite of the Tea Partiers, said he wants the government to be so small he can drown it in his bathtub.
Governments should treat all citizens equally.
Businesses do not do this. Visa and Mastercard charge much lower fees to large corporations than to smaller businesses.
In a Congressional hearing, a Master Card rep said that the profit margin on Visa cards was 50%.
Fisher Investments claims that it knows all about investments: they send me ads all the time, telling me that unless I want to permit them to manage a million dollars, they are not interested in me as a customer. Most brokerages offer special favors to their largest investors.
Businesses are most efficient when they have competition from rival businesses. No one wants to live in a country where there are two governments competing, like Somalia or Lebanon or Syria.
