I'm curious, Chip, why it's only "human being"s that have any rights. Does not all life come from the same source?

Right... so about which verse is against Christmas trees? That's a new one on me.

Jeremiah 10:2-5, cutting and trimming a tree in the house was a pagan custom long before the time of Jesus, Jeremiah is thought to be circa 627-560 BC. The Hebrew word "hebel" is used in reference to this custom, it means "vain" or "vanity" and "worthless". "Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen..."

This is an idol made of wood. It was from a tree that was cut down and trimmed, and likely at the time of creation, was over laid with Gold or Silver. Other idols were made of stone and marble.

In pagan cultures these were worshiped as deities. Obviously, I personally haven't seen many christians, or pagans, worshiping their Christmas tree. If one were to consider a Christmas Tree a case of idolatry, then I agree with you, they should not have it.

Morals are determined by G-d alone. There is an absolute moral code. Mankind left to his own devices will murder babies and do whatever he chooses with whatever rational he wants.

To determine right and wrong, read a Bible. It's pretty clear.

I am amazed that so many people here can use an antiquated document of dubious origins as authoritarian reference source. Mankind had come a long way in the development of moral philosophy since the largely mystical religious concepts that were developed more than two millennium ago.

We of the 21st century must face problems such as massive poverty and pollution of our global environment cause largely by over-population. The "God Solution" will be starvation on a grand scale. Is that really the solution that you are willing to accept?

Personally, I would prefer limiting the number of babies born in the world and also establishing an upper age limit after which disease is not medically treated, rather nature is allowed to take its natural course.
