It's becoming difficult to figure out why the Democrats stay on this path straight toward the electoral cliff edge.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.–The Democratic Party platform doesn’t state that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, a change from prior years that could provide fuel to critics who say President Barack Obama’s commitment to Israel is weak.

“President Obama and the Democratic Party maintain an unshakable commitment to Israel’s security,” begins the 70-page platform in a section titled “The Middle East.” The three-paragraph section details the Obama administration’s support for Israel—including boosting security assistance—but says nothing about Jerusalem.

Such an omission provide an opening to Mr. Obama’s rival for the presidency, Mitt Romney, as Jewish voters—particularly in the battleground state of Florida—are key to the election.

“It is unfortunate that the entire Democratic Party has embraced President Obama’s shameful refusal to acknowledge that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital,” Mr. Romney said in a statement.

The Israelis do what they want to do. If they want to move their capital, then OK. Let them do what they want. But it is not at all clear that it is legal for Israel to it. Jerusalem is an undefined city-state. It is not within the borders the UN recognized as Israel, in 1949. It is not within the 1967 boundaries. So, if the Israelis want to do it, against the will of the international community --- let them do it. But if a fight starts over it, they should not ask the International Community or the US for help.

The US is an ally of Israel. The US has given more than $2B per year, in this last decade. The US has kept Israel under its umbrella for more than a half a century. We don't have to bend to every whim that country has. Sometimes friends have to say no!

well congress is its own problem though leadrtship is lacking therenut matters at his level are another matter.

Just more of POS typical statements with no merit. Like Obama's budget being voted down by his own party and Reid not even bringing up for a vote bills, like Obama's jobs bill, because he knows his own members won't vote for it.

Reid and Obama have absolutely no intention of allowing any bills to come forward. They like the status quo of trillion dollar deficits. It's all a big political game that they play and it gives Obama, the media and supporters wiggle room so they can blame congress for inaction.
