McCain top adviser invested in porn

Maybe playing gotcha is contagious. People seem to be sucked in by it. Congress does it, political colomnists do it , politcal forum posters do it.

I've yet to see anything positive accomplished by it. All it really does is play directly to pre-existing beliefs. It's too easy to point out the faults of others, and it's almost impossible to even see, let alone admit, our own.

I see this silly game of gotcha as symtomatic of the complete disintegration of polite political discourse in the nation.

Gotcha!!

I think the basic point here is that while there is nothing illegal about investing in porn, the Republicans often try to play the "family values" and "morals" cards, but by doing this its just plain hypocrisy.

End of.

"Republicans" but did he? there are 3 types of Republicans I see
Bible thumpers
Business republicans
and libertarian Republicans

Unless he was the Christian Right part, then I see no hypocrcy...

Phil Graham fronted the "Family Values" theme in public & it was a part of his political posture. I guess that being so it leans him at least partially toward Bible thumping.

But then he was also a complete 100% deregulation guy... in fact he's the one who came up with the so called Enron loophole that ended up helping so many businesses further expand their bad business practices. So I guess he's a business Republican too.

It's not uncommon to see a combination of the 3 types you mention.

You don't have to be a bible thumping Christian Republican to promote Family Values. I think its supposed to be a common theme for all members of the party.

Actually the truth is Family Values is a common theme across Party lines both Republican & Democratic.

All good people in both Parties want their families to thrive and want their country to be a safe place for their children. There's no Party line there at all.

However that's one of the most shameful things I see about the Republican attack machine. It's their tried & true tactic to vigorously smear people that just don't agree with their specific agenda, be it social or economic.

I think what was being referred to though in this thread is that in the last few American Presidential election cycles the Christian ultra-conservatives somewhat hijacked the Republican Party with Evangelists heavily campaigning for certain candidates and more church influence (read that control) in our government.

I see some change in this tactic this go round. I don't know if it's because this game is now just so played out or because the Ultra-conservatives are not all that hot on McCain. Regardless less is better for America in this case.

I don't really believe the Christian right hijacked the republican party. I actually see it the othe way around. Christians allowed themselves to be hijacked by the republican party. More explicitly, the Neo-conservative wing of the republican party. They were suckered into believing they could somehow vote the country back to God.

If Christians actually read their bibles, they would realize the futility of trying to find their own way back to God. In all scripture, it never happened even once. Every time God's people came back to him, it took an act of God to accomplish it.

That they could be so easily deceived by that bunch of snake oil salesmen, doesn't speak very well of the leadership of the evangelical movement.

More of the same, pervs in the GOP, but not surprising.

I expect nothing more than for the cons to say there is 0 credibility to the source, article etc etc, but that's what they do, deny, deny, deny! Ignore it and it will go away, deny it and it didn't happen, lol.. When will the cons wake up and realize their politicians aren't the Godly people they portray them to be, rather a bunch of pervs who hide behind God.

You make a good point. Truthfully I never thought of it that way but your scenario could just as easily be the case. Good post!

There is too much that is seriously wrong with McCain to be concerned about his porno pushing pals. Thanks for posting this story.
