The enormous (budget) defict comes mainly from "social spending", including the massively expensive geezer meds, ALL of which was passed by the democrat congress and their democrat congress predecessors.
That "geezer meds" bill was actually passed in 2003, long before the voters got tired of the Republican Congress and its liberal spending habits and elected Democrats (who didn't change much, of course.) It was supported whole heartedly by that great conservative, GWB.
Medicare Part D is a federal program to subsidize the costs of prescription drugs for Medicare beneficiaries in the United States. It was enacted as part of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA) and went into effect on January 1, 2006.
But, don't let little things like facts and dates and who actually supported that huge spending bill get in the way of your reasoning.
Not now, it isn't. The number of US soldiers killed is by far the least killed in US military history (with the exception of the 100 hour gulf "war"), and the number being killed now is probably less per month than, say, the people killed in LA traffic accidents. BIG TERRIBLE WAR??? Only in appeaser propaganda.
Five years of war, 4,000 + soldiers killed, tens of thousands more disabled, anywhere from a half trillion to three trillion dollars wasted (according to who you believe). Yes, at long last, there does seem to be an end to the quagmire that is Iraq, at least eventually.
Al qaeda has been clobbered all over the world, and they aren't "gaining strength" - you're hallucinating.
Yes, of course, that must be it. The BBC is also hallucinating, and has been for over a year now:
Al-Qaeda 'rebuilding' in Pakistan
And, the joint chiefs of staff have joined me and the BBC in our hallucinations:
http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0611/p99s01-duts.html
And, the NYT is part of the hallucination, too:
Amid U.S. Policy Disputes, Qaeda Grows in Pakistan
But, of course, that is just reporting by the liberal media, so you can feel free to ignore it, and continue your circular reasoning.
What did you do during american government class - masturbate in the back row?
Quiz.
Spending bills originate in the ___________.
Answer: House of Representatives.
The House of representatives is controlled by the ___________party.
Answer: Democrat
One more little question to add to the quiz, if you're done masturbating:
The Congress has been controlled by the Democrats since:
a. The end of the last ice age
b. The election of 2006
c. Bush was elected
d. The federal government decided to invade Iraq.
He didn't stop libs from spending? Shame on him! How can we ever forget the day when Pelosi grabbed the microphone and screamed "For God's sake - stop me before I spend again!"
If by "libs" you mean Democrats, then he actually did veto some of the spending bills passed by the Democrat controlled Congress. He did not veto one single spending bill passed by the Congress when the liberal big spending Republicans were in control, however.
Here are some interesting budget stats:
# United States federal budget, 2009 - $3.10 trillion (submitted 2008 by President Bush)
# United States federal budget, 2008 - $2.90 trillion (submitted 2007 by President Bush)
# United States federal budget, 2007 - $2.77 trillion (submitted 2006 by President Bush)
# United States federal budget, 2006 - $2.7 trillion (submitted 2005 by President Bush)
# United States federal budget, 2005 - $2.4 trillion (submitted 2004 by President Bush)
# United States federal budget, 2004 - $2.3 trillion (submitted 2003 by President Bush)
# United States federal budget, 2003 - $2.2 trillion (submitted 2002 by President Bush)
# United States federal budget, 2002 - $2.0 trillion (submitted 2001 by President Bush)
# United States federal budget, 2001 - $1.9 trillion (submitted 2000 by President Clinton)
An increase from 1.9 trillion under that great tax and spend Democrat, bill Clinton, to a budget of 2.7 trillion submitted in 2006 by George Bush to the Republican controlled Congress represents an increase of 42%. The difference between the budget submitted in 1999, the last year of Clinton's presidency, and the current budget of 3.1 trillion represents an increase of 82%, not including spending on the war in Iraq, which is still off budget.
But, that's just a bunch of old, dreary facts, combined with mathematics. I'm not sure, but I think maybe mathematics were invented by liberals also, and so are suspect.
And when they weren't in control - they valiantly tried to stave off spending???
