"Nearly one-third of patients enrolled in the state’s medical cannabis access program experience significant reductions in their pain symptoms within their first four months, according to data provided by the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management.
.
Researchers analyzed data from nearly 10,000 pain patients enrolled in the program. They reported: “Among all pain-related conditions, almost one-third (31.7 percent) of patients experiencing moderate to severe pain at enrollment saw a meaningful reduction in pain symptoms within four months of treatment. Of those patients experiencing a meaningful reduction in pain symptoms, 49.7 percent of them were able to maintain the pain reduction for an additional four months after achieving it.”

"Opioid prescription rates decline following the opening of licensed marijuana retailers, according to data published in the scientific journal Cannabis.
.
A team of researchers affiliated with the University of Chicago and the University of Georgia assessed the relationship between the establishment of state-licensed cannabis retailers and the use of prescription painkillers. Researchers tracked opioid prescription trends, as well as prescription rates for NSAIDS and other pain medications, for 13 years."

"Members of the state Senate voted 23 to 9 along party lines in favor of a substitute version of SB 56, which amends and rescinds several provisions in the state’s voter-approved marijuana legalization law. Republicans possess super-majority control of the chamber. All nine Democrats voted against the bill.
.
The bill
reduces the number of plants adults may cultivate at home, sets an arbitrary cap on the total number of retailers allowed statewide, imposes potency restrictions on cannabis products, allots taxes from retail sales into the general fund rather than to allocated programs, and provides new penalties for adults who share their cannabis with other consumers, among other changes. It would also ban Ohioans from possessing marijuana that they purchased in another state and brought back over state lines.
.
This legislative effort marks the
second time since the law’s passage that Republican lawmakers have sought to either repeal or amend many of its provisions."
.

"House lawmakers have approved a trio of bills significantly liberalizing the state’s marijuana laws. However, it is uncertain whether Senate lawmakers will take up any of the measures.
.
The three bills now await action from the Senate, which is more politically conservative than the House.
Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte, who has historically opposed any liberalization of the state’s marijuana laws, is likely to oppose all three bills."

Concomitant Administration Of THCV And CBD Promotes
Weight Loss / Improves Cholesterol

February 27, 2025
.
"The daily administration of hemp-derived CBD and THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin) is associated with clinically significant weight loss, according to placebo-controlled clinical data published in the journal Cannabis.
.
An investigator affiliated with the biotechnology company Nex Therapeutics assessed the metabolic effects of the concomitant use of
THCV and CBD versus placebo in obese adults fatties!! Study participants consumed mucoadhesive oral strips containing either cannabinoids or placebo daily for 90 days, with no additional changes to their diet or exercise routine.
.
Compared to those consuming the placebo,
subjects taking THCV and CBD experienced significant weight loss and other metabolic improvements. Most subjects who consumed cannabinoids reported no adverse effects."
.

"Young adults are more likely to self-report consuming unregulated, hemp-derived intoxicating products in states where marijuana is illegal, according to data published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
.
Consistent with prior studies, they reported that
delta-8 THC consumption is far more popular in jurisdictions without regulated adult-use cannabis markets.
.
Although
delta-8 THC occurs organically in the cannabis plant, it is typically only produced in nominal quantities. By contrast, the elevated quantities of delta-8 THC found in commercially available products are typically the result of a chemical synthesis during which manufacturers convert hemp-derived CBD to delta-8 THC. Manufacturers engaged in synthesizing delta-8 THC are not regulated and often use potentially dangerous household products to facilitate this process. Lab analyses of unregulated delta-8 products have consistently found them to contain lower levels of the compound then advertised on the products’ labels. Some products have also been found to possess heavy metal contaminants and unlabeled cutting agents."

"Nebraska’s Attorney General and former Governor are urging state lawmakers to halt efforts to adopt a pair of citizen-initiated measures regulating the possession, use, and production of medical cannabis. Some 70 percent of Nebraska voters approved the measures on election day.
.
Writing in an op-ed, AG
Mike Hilgers and former Governor (now U.S. Senator) Pete Ricketts called on lawmakers to ignore the voters’ will. “The legislature has no duty to act now,” they wrote. “In fact, there are plenty of reasons to not act at all.”
.
The
duo opined that cannabis is harmful, easily abused, and is not safe to consume even under medical supervision.” Ricketts, a longtime opponent of marijuana policy reform, has previously alleged: “If you legalize marijuana, you’re gonna kill your kids. That’s what the data shows from around the country.”

"Members of the Idaho House of Representatives passed a resolution yesterday to provide the legislature with the exclusive authority to decide marijuana policy.
.
House Joint Resolution
4 seeks to amend the state constitution to prohibit any future voter-initiated ballot questions legalizing marijuana. If enacted, “Only the legislature of the state of Idaho shall have power and authority to legalize the growing, producing, manufacturing, transporting, selling, delivering, dispensing, administering, prescribing, distributing, possessing, or using of marijuana, narcotics, or other psychoactive substances.”
.
While
state lawmakers have historically voiced strong opposition to marijuana policy reform, their views are inconsistent with those of Idaho votersnearly 70 percent of whom say that “the use of marijuana for medical purposes should be made legal.”

"A Texas judge has denied a request from the state’s Republican Attorney General to enjoin Dallas’ voter-approved marijuana depenalization ordinance.
.
On Election Day, voters in Dallas and two other cities decided in
favor of municipal ballot initiatives limiting the ability of local law enforcement to make misdemeanor marijuana possession arrests. Following the election, state Attorney General Ken Paxton filed litigation to prevent Dallas officials from implementing the law.
.
In recent months,
Paxton has filed lawsuits against multiple cities that have moved to end low-level marijuana arrests. To date, none of his lawsuits have been successful."
