"Adults with a history of cannabis use exhibit greater protections against subconcussive head trauma as compared to non-users, according to data published in the journal Cell.

A team of investigators affiliated with Indiana University assessed the relationship between cannabis use and subconcussive head impacts (soccer headings) in a cohort of 43 soccer players.

They reported that
cannabis consumers showed lesser degrees of impairment following laboratory-induced, low-level head trauma than did those with no history of use."

"Regulators initially awarded licenses to 21 companies seeking to operate in the state’s nascent medical cannabis market, but then later suspended the process due to inconsistencies in how applicants were evaluated. At least one applicant has also filed suit against the Commission, resulting in the issuance of a temporary restraining order that restricts regulators from issuing any new licenses until later this month.

Almost
no other state imposes similar restrictions on the types of products available."

"Legislation (LD 1311) has become law absent the Governor’s signature amending rules surrounding the use of cannabis by those on probation or parole.

The law limits the ability of the courts to order those on probation, parole, or pre-trial release to refrain from the use of cannabis.

Maine is one of the few jurisdictions imposing such limitations. In 2019, New York City lawmakers enacted legislation removing abstinence from marijuana as a necessary condition of probation. In a handful of other states, including Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, courts have ruled that eligible patients can legally use medical cannabis while on probation."

"Seven years after California voters passed Proposition 64 in 2016, successfully legalizing marijuana possession, cultivation, and sales, the courts are finally nearly finished relieving all qualifying cannabis cases. As of April 6, 2023, California courts have expunged, sealed, or re-sentenced 206,502 cases out of an estimated 227,650."
