Actual virgin birth would only produce a female offspring. So I doubt that one.
The Gospels tell different stories. Paul also has a different perspective on events in Jesus' existence.
The Messiah referred to in the Old Testament was to be a rerun of King David: NOT a son of God.
There is no evidence that there was any census of even the Roman Empire holding a census during Jesus' life.
If a government held a census to tax people, how much sense would it make to require everyone to return to the place where their most famous ancestor lived 1000 years before? Imagine what the turnout would be if you were required to pay your taxes in person at the IRS office where your 15th great grandfather lived. Would any government ever be so stupid as to require that?
There are a lot of scenes in the Bible that are mentioned by only one of the Evangelicals. We are told by Matthew that after the Crucifixion, dead people popped out of their tomb and began to wander about Jerusalem. Strangely, Luke, Mark and John do not bother to mention this.
.
We are told that Herod ordered the slaughter of all boy children of 2 years or younger. Yet there is no mention of this in historical accounts. Murdering babies and zombies cruising the streets are impressive and rare occurrences.
I do not deny that the Jesus tale has had a huge impacts on Western Civilization. There is no way of actually proving it to be true, and the Gospels contradict one another. If Jesus wanted his story to be told accurately, he should have written it down himself.
Modern scholarship is way better than ancient Bible study and should be considered by those who are interested in the actual truth.
