whats English sound like to Germans Im curious
Thats a bit different - usually Germans and Austrians learn English from about age 8 or 9, at least a bit, and from age 10 they have weakly 2 two 4 hours English depending on the type of school - so its pretty common to understand English.

And US culture has a big influence since 1945, not always to everybodys liking.

Yea English is a second language in a lot of nations , German was the language of science , astronomy etc. for generations . Like I said I'm accustomed to Spanish my first wife was Hispanic and I speak a bit still but not a lot is been 30 years sense we separated.
 
Afrikaans is a dialect of Dutch. The two languages are often mutually intelligible.
Ther phonetic structure is similar to Gerrman.
